As a person harmed when the FBI chose to rum a CP site, is that choosing to Run a CP site is the wrong way for LE to attempt to get around incrypted "professional" porn cites and reach those who actually produce and distribute pictures of children being sexually abused because they them selves engage in the same harms AND they are only able to charge a few small fish as proven by the disproportionate number of (professional) John Does they list in their complaint but were unable to catch because (again) they can't crack the professionals who already operated from the encrypted cites the FBI couldn't crack open in the fird=st place. The FBI might be caught in a catch 22 with regard to charging and prosecuting the "professionals (who were merely trolling the FBI Playpen for more porn to sell and distribute) but that doesn't give them the right to join in criminal activities which have the effect of re-victimizing children (now grown) who were used and sexually abused and filmed and distributed are now being criminally re-abused by the FBI's own CP site
My argument is a little convoluted but I'm certain a Publc defender (or the ACLU?) might see the sense in persueing it and obtaining some justice for you even after all this time.
I do not feel re-victimized. I feel anger. I feel so much anger.
I am angry because there never will be any justice for me personally for what happened. It has taken me years, soul searching, understanding and forgiveness to move on from those years.
I am angry because the government, the FBI, the lawmakers who tell me what I should feel and how I should feel justice is served, is using images of perhaps me and the countless other kids who just want to move on from those incidents, without our permission.
I don't care who they think they are catching, they aren't preventing this from happening. I know they aren't catching the real people they should be. I couldn't care less about people who look at it out of some weird curiosity or even those who do take some sick pleasure from looking at those videos or images. They aren't the problem, and I've known this for years.
I don't want money, I am not owed anything in damages. I am still a functional human being.
This just needs to stop. These stings catching lonely guys talking to "minors" online, these ridiculous websites catching "bad people." The misinformation being perpetuated by politicians. It just needs to stop.
Civil action / Getting $$ doesn't to mean you aren't a survivor. It's just al legal (cnstructive?) way to express anger / fight back in a way that might make a difference and might end up helping other children who are still children and voiceless. Just saying. It's because as you say "they aren't catching the real people they should be."
To me, a government official, moreover, a law enforcement official, would have to have a pretty twisted and sick mind to believe it is okay to knowingly, intentionally, and willfully run a website they know its' sole purpose is to distribute child pornography to the public -- and then not be able to track such to know if and where it is saved and redistributed. Unfortunately, we have loads of government officials and those in law enforcement with such a twisted and sick mind.
I have a 'twisted' idea of my own...since right now they aren't catching the real people they should be.because..they aren't able to track the porn they export to where it is saved and redistributed.(and they can't crack open the encrypted sites that import the FBI's CP.. WHY NOT just infect the porn itself with a bug so that once imported onto the encrypted site...the imported porn infects all the rest of the site and maybe the encrypted site itself implodes or maybe make it so it's a sleeper bug in the imported porn the messes up encrypted computers and distribute the bug to other importers whose computers go down also??? Seems like if the US could send a worm into the secret Iranian nuclear program and reprogram it to fail then why NOT use the same idea to screw up international and US pornographic site. How could they complain when the y "got" the bug from importing and exporting CP worldwide. LOL? Just a twisted thought of my own.
@JanetMackie When you view the document it's just a preview. Downloading it is enabled for anyone with the link and there's a blue download button in the upper right corner. Once you download it you should be able to print it without issue
This situation is a prime example of my stance. Anyone foolish enough to think we should give these LE "the benefit of the doubt" either is biased or just foolish----or even stupid.
The people in the upper levels of law enforcement play by their own rules and have no problems violating the Constitution, which is the very document they have sworn to uphold. From "parallel investigations" to "hacking", the FBI is adept at crossing the line.
There has always been a debate of whether looking at a CP image re-victimizes the victims. LE---and the FBI----will be the first in line to clamor that each and every time an image is viewed that the victim is re-victimized and it leads to their pain. Hell, they even support restitution for the victims in these cases even though the downloader is not the proximate cause of their pain and suffering.
Now we have this. Either the FBI does not really believe it's own B*ll Sh*t of re-victimization or they don't care; it is undeniable that CP was exchanged while they had complete control of the servers of the site.
The FBI are----for want of a better term---liars and sometimes a rogue organization. They do not give a damn about those being abused in the CP images or videos. Oh, they put up good front for the public---the endless "for the children" argument--- in an effort for people to continue to support their effort, but their real goal is to make as many arrests as possible regardless of the means used.
One of the reasons the FBI places so much emphasis on these types of crimes is economic. "Cybercrime is one of the priorities for the FBI, which has 13,260 special agents across the country, including on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii island, according to the agency. The FBI had an $8.3 billion budget in fiscal 2014."
They have to continually demonstrate that they are doing something to justify their budget. I could not find how much of that $8.3 billion dollar budget is allocated to cybercrime, but a portion certain is.
So what happens now??
The government will have wasted taxpayer money with these excursions and created themselves some federal jobs, so some "special agent" can sit on his ass, find another CP suspect, determine his IP address, obtain a warrant and then have a dozen agents in a SWAT team raid the suspect's house They will then proceed to act like armed hooligans, and arrest someone. Oh, with the budget they can purchase even more toys and expensive software to catch even more low level users.
Most of these arrests are low level users or those who are curious or bored. Nothing done here will make a dent in the CP problem in this country. But FBI agents will slap each other on the back for a job well done, the "sheeple" of this country will applaud that a child pornographer has been caught, and not one dent has been made in the problem of child pornography.
The mass distributors or the producers of this filth are never arrested or prosecuted. Spending so much money to prosecute these low level offenders, placing them in prison @ $30,000 or more a year, and ruining their lives AND their families and children's lives is a terrible misuse of budget funds.
Arresting and spending so much money and using so many resources for some low level users of CP is just a viscous cycle and it does not address the problem.

PS Oh thank you, Aladdin for suppling the link to the court document to dismiss.
I'd say arresting the lowest guys (viewers and possessors) leads to more CP being produced. While the cops are patting themselves on the back, so are the higher ups in the CP world, they survived another huge sting.
Well, we can certainly understand why the survivors of child porn filmed/ photographed, their private personal/ physical bodies exposed, faces recognized, sold and re-sold for years, put out there for the salacious pleasures of pornography obsessed persons googling virtual reality for CP might feel harmed and re-harmed and angry.
As the families of SO and as SO's suffering collateral from the internet we certainly can understand that such public exposure creates untold harm. "Do they know? Have they seen? what will they say when/if they see? What sort of relation ships will be possible? Should I tell right off? How to "explain" ? And it just goes on and on forever.
We all understand how those questions and the anger of "exposure" effects Registrants and the Families of Registrants. Likewise, we can certainly sympathize/ empathize with the adults/ children who after the initial abuse must still live with memories and the after effects of internet CP out there for all to see for years on end.
