yea, that's what happens when you molest children, go to a prison, other prisoners discover your charges, and said prisoners have free access to you. 2+2=4 right?

I'm aware my previous post was unhelpful. As the mother, you might could take action to get him moved to a "weaker" prison with softer criminals, and/or better segregation, etc.. With "good behavior", he would potentially get moved to "softer" locations, which may mean less segregation and could actually be more dangerous. Often, isolation is the safest place for someone in prison convicted of child rape.

I hope that remark you just made was just one in which someone wasn't thinking and put their foot in their mouth.

This is a support board for offenders and registrants; many of the posters here have sons or husbands in prison that they worry about every single day.

I am not sure I understand what you mean when you say, "That's what happens when you molest a child and go to prison." Are you implying that those two men almost deserved to be murdered because they molested or raped a child?

I went to prison for almost a decade for the first degree rape of a child and I was NOT guilty. Did I deserve to be murdered or beaten up because of my charges?

Not everyone in prison on a sex charge is guilty. I hope you understand that.

A little bit of tact and sensibility for the mothers, wives, and family members of those in prison for sex charges would be nice. Don't you think?

That is OK, Registered. I have said things I probably should have never said a few times also, even right here on this forum.

There is only so much a mother or family member can do to keep a vulnerable inmate safe.

Most of the time getting moved to a less violent prison is very difficult or almost impossible, as the prisons do not like moving inmates from one prison to another. If the inmate is not minimum eligible, but is only eligible for a medium security or higher----as is often the case in sex crimes----moving to another prison does not accomplish much, as he would still be going to another medium.

It is the medium vs minimum security prison that is the problem. There is almost no violence at a minimum, but quite a bit at a medium security facility. Most medium security inmates have so much time to serve that they may never get out of prison anyway, so they don't bother following any rules. They are the ones most likely to really beat someone up.

If you already have 100 years to serve, what is a little write-up and loss of good time? It does not matter to them.

With good behavior and as time passes, an inmate's security points will begin to fall off and he will be shipped to a lower security, but that may take a few years. Therefore, that does not help the immediate problem.

You are correct, Registered, that isolation or PC is the safest place for an inmate with child rape or molestation charges, but PC is a miserable existence. I never went---and I never would--- and I was never bothered because I carry myself well and won the respect of most of the inmates, but honestly, I have to admit that there was a lot of luck involved there also. A crazy inmate who does not like your charges can attack you regardless of how you act toward others.

A riot is the easiest time for an inmate to be killed. Everything is in chaos, the COs are not watching the inmates as they would normally do, and it is a good time to hurt someone you never liked in the first place.

Reggie, I did 12 years in prison with a sex crime and I never had a problem. It's all about just blending into the crowd of other inmates and doing your time. If you can manage to get him to a prison filled with a higher population of sex offenders he will be safer. So I recommend trying that if you feel he is in danger. Also pray a lot for him.

No one deserves to be murdered! You speak so coldly registered, reminds me of my friend from high school with Asperger's syndrome. He was speaking what he saw as the truth at all times but couldn't understand how it wasn't helpful or why people got frustrated with him.

But the truth here is anything but simple. Do we know that these men were guilty? No. There is a pretty good chance they were based on anecdotal evidence provided by the innocence project and criminologists, but no one knows exactly how many innocent people are in prison. This is beside the point that no one deserves to die for their crime (I'll throw in the caveat unless the state sanctions it, but because of the innocence project I am personally against the death penalty). Now what you said registered was 2+2 =4 in regards to offenders getting killed in prison. The danger is always there for offenders in prison. Solitary is a short term option, but talk to Rew and others like him on the prison forum. They can direct you to the better prisons and how to navigate that.

My friend was like Spock, half-human half-alien, had a hard time communicating with people because he was coldly logical and lacked emotional understanding. He would say something like that dress didn't look good on a girl, or tell someone it looked like they were tired or gained weight and didn't understand why that was a problem.

The location of the riot, at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI), is a maximum/medium security prison, just as I figured.

In all my experience with prisons or corrections, I cannot think of one instance where a riot occurred at a minimum security prison. Violence such as riots just never occurs at the lower security facilities. Most inmates at a minimum security prison do not have the mindset for anything like a riot and they are too preoccupied with wanting to go home that widespread violence does not happen there.

LOL I know what you mean, people sometimes think I'm like that, however my view is that I am just not acknowledging or endearing to weakness, pity, ideology, self-image, etc.. After all, if I look tired or that I gained weight, I would want someone to mention that to me so I could fix the problem asap, not have them lie to me to prevent hurting my feelings but in the meantime there is an unhealthy state that I am not aware of because no one will tell me in the name of hurting me! See the contradiction and wrongness in that?

This "beating around the bush" and "walking on eggshells" often does more harm than good, and actually continues the negative thing instead of dissolving it.

Registered - remember this also - the media, the prison officials, and others will call these men child rapists because they have the label of sex offender - you or any of us do not know the crime here at all - if you saw the conviction forcible sexual assault of a minor - what crime is that? In FL is is the crime given to statutory rape.

Also registered if you have never been around someone with Aspergers it is more than someone telling the blatant truth - they do not interact well with other people - social norms so to speak my sons friend that has it does get the point of jokes etc.

PC or SNY isn't so bad in CA, but I guess we don't have much to compare it to. I would always suggest a PC or SNY for anyone with a sex offense -guilty or not. Majority of the inmates don't cause problems. There are a few a$$holes, but not as many I could see in GP.
