i dont personally have an iud but a friend of mine has one. getting it put in hurts a lot she has said but the doctors give you medication to help with things (she didnt take any) id say talk to your doctor. its helped my friend so much! but its not for every one. good luck!!!

you poor thing you sound like you have every autoimmune disease in the book! I sympathize, my family is struck by autoimmune issues as well. mom has fibro, reynauds, rheumatoid arthritis ... brother has ankylosing spondylitis i reallly sympathize with you there. i have thyroid disease, so does my mom. I have endo as well.
I was told not to use IUD's. My doc said the pain from endo can get worse with it. instead they put me on depo provera, which keeps my estrogen in check . i don't have periods on depo, so i actually don't have symptoms on depo, thank goodness. Sometimes depo works for endo, sometimes it doesn't. for me it's a lifesaver. If you haven't tried it, i'd check into it. If you do use an IUD, DON'T USE THE COPPER KIND. doc said that one is the worst for some reason.

Thank you Ashlee ,I have been on the depo shot and it worked for me very well but due to the blood disorder they dont want me on any kind of shot or pill.I think i have made my mind up on this and im not going to have it done.Im going to get a second oppinion on other opptions and maybe the next gyno will allow me to have the depo again.

I was on Mirena a few years back, (just for birth control), and it was god awful. I bled for 5 months straight, with horrid cramping, and stabbing pains in my cervix, I gained 15 pounds, and then to top it all off, it fell out!!! (My body rejected it, supposedly.)

I also have severe endo and disease somewhat similar to fibro and i did have the mirena iud in for 5 months. to be completely honest with you (bc i would never want anyone i know or even dont know to have to go through that) but it truly was the worst mistake of my life. My endo got much much more severe once i had it inserted so i personally would not recommend it! i hope you can find some relief soon. have you looked into excision specialist? :) i hope you feel better soon doll!

I have mirena in...I have it in though for my adenomyosis and my SEVERE bleeding on my period. The first 6 months were sheer hell (my body tried going into labour 3 times) and I begged and pleaded for them to take it out or do something. Since my only option after this is a hysterectomy I had to wait it out...6-8 months mark came and the pain associated with it DID ease. and now (over a year later) there is no pain associated with it at all (I had inserted April of last year). I did however bleed for 8 months on it straight. I had to be put on the BCP to top it up...I've had some issues but for the last 3 weeks no bleeding now...it's taken awhile. But unfortunately my adenomyosis is still growing and my LHS ovary is missing...a few other things indicate my endometriosis is growing. But I can tell you not having a period even after bleeding for a year has been a bonus. The bleeding was nothing compared to my period. I would encourage you to stick it out for 6 months-1 year. It DOES get better, unfortunately many women get it out earlier due to the side effects (they are horrible I do agree).
My doctors made me aware this was NOT being placed for my endo, it was purely for my adenomyosis, it does not stop the endo from growing. Everyone is different, and not every medication is roses and peaches, sometimes it is hard and we have to try really hard to stick it out to see if it will work. Unfortunately the Mirena can be one of those ones that take up to a year to function properly - the bonus is it does last for 5 years! But again, everyone is different, you never know what works for you until you try it!

My Dr placed the mirena while I was getting my lap surgery, so I cannot say much about the pain when it was placed, but my sister had it for a while (she does not have endo) but she said that while it was being placed, she was dizzy, sweating, and very crampy for a day.
As for side effects, it has made my breasts hurt REALLY bad to the point where I can barely walk and I cannot take a bra off without being in a ton of pain. My sister said age she also experienced weight gain but I have not. When I first got it placed, I bled for like 5 months, but I now have stopped bleeding except for some spotting maybe 1-3 days a month, but I still get a lot of pain.
