Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
The next time he told me how much he wanted a Kubota ZD 21 zero clearance lawnmower (witht he 5 foot mowing deck). He happened to be picking mine up for service at the time.
He really liked the tiller that attaches to my tractor. He's a really nice looking man but I am leery of saying too much to him. I get to see him one time a year. I don't know if he's hitting on me or just being nice. I think he just likes my farm equipment.
When I became engaged to the ex an old boyfriend informed me he would marry me if I would get the marriage license. Yes, shorty's story is right on. No, I'm not paranoid. This is just what is available when men think they are really smart and you might be dumb. Not all men. Just the ones I run into. They like my truck too.
Does Tom have any relatives that are like him and somewhere around 60. The East Coast would be nice, but I'm willing to relocate---as soon as I finish this damned doctorate. Hey, life with Bob was sexless for the last 4 or 5 years because I gained too much weight and he already had tried on a size 4 to see how he liked her. LOL.
Tea4- I have a snowblower. It hasn't helped a bit.
Seriously though, I really don't have time to do a man justice unless I could pay him by the hour. I'll see if I can work one in the same year I have time for a dog. I have to stop working so much---someday.

I almost fell off my chair laughing at your post: "For crying out loud....you mean all I have to do is buy a snowblower??? Think "used" will do? "
Give me a couple more winters here in cold Maryland, and when I move to Barbados I'll GIVE you my snowblower!
I don't know about scary...I would think it would make you feel very powerful and alluring! But I'm not so sure I agree with this guy's remark...a lot of newly divorced women are still feeling pretty down on themselves and might tend to appear "needy" or worse yet, "wounded" which to me, would scare the daylights out of a potential suitor.
That fellow's comment also rings a bit on the lewd side from where I sit -- like he assumes that all newly divorced women are so horny that they would jump into bed with the first guy who came along.
I didn't hide the fact that I was newly divorced and I shared openly with Tom the still raw feelings I had about the demise of my marriage. He had been divorced a few years longer than I had, but he shared his feelings openly, too. This was important, as they were major life events and a part of who we both are.
I was also very clear that I didn't want to be with "some guy" just so I wouldn't be alone -- that is "settling" -- something I have never done.
After 6 weeks of communicating through eHarmony, personal emails and phone calls, we chose a date upon which to meet in person for the first time. I recall being totally calm and not one bit nervous as I dressed and drove the 30 minutes to the restaurant we had decided on. There were absolutely NONE of those dreadful lulls in conversation, no awkwardness between us. After 5 hours (they were sweeping the floor, so they were obviously getting ready to close for the evening) we walked outside and talked for a little while longer.
I don't remember driving home (and I hadn't drunk anything alcoholic) but I did write a short entry in my Journal before going to bed. "Wow! My first date in over 30 years! I had a lovely evening fully engaged in conversation with this wonderful man named Tom. He is exactly as he represented himself in the past 6 weeks and exactly as I expected him to be. I had so much fun, I was unaware of the passing of time. When we said goodnight in the parking lot, he said (the obligatory?) "I'll be in touch." If nothing else, I know I have made a new friend."
"So I'm looking for a girl with a gun and a job ( and house... with cable )"
Shame on you...
There are a lot of dirty jokes with "snow blower" running through my head.
