Weekly Weigh-In ♣ Mar 12-18 ♣ Habits Tried & True

All of a sudden, a few extra pounds have crept on, not once, but twice or more. How could this happen?!? My healthy habits have been forsaken. It was so effortless, just creeping up so nonchalantly, and soon the regular weigh-in seemed to skip days. What?!?! The healthy habits kept sliding to the back seat. [Flash forward to this weekend . . .] It’s come to grips time! What to do, what to do.
[Thought bubble . . .] It all started when we lost our beloved little terrier in October. Then there was the November MS flare and in-home steroid infusions, followed by all the holidays. My weekly weight tracking folio ended up all but forgotten on the bookshelf! I dusted it off and searched through my past several weeks. What an eye opener! Back in October, my weight was 134! Only 9 pounds from my goal, the high school weight. A First step of getting back into healthy habits every day was filling in the weigh in dates for the next several months.
On the other side of my little folder was the list of exercises I was doing on waking each morning. What happened to those? I feel like “Little Bear” of the “I Can Read Books.” He kept asking his Mom for one more thing so he could be warm when he went out to play. When he had everything he could imagine, he realized, he had already had everything he needed from the start without all those extra things he kept imagining (as he hugged his Mom). Most of us have things that work already and just need to use them. At least that’s what I found. I’m having to tell myself that re-inventing the wheel isn’t where it’s at. Just do what works. I already have all the tools.
With my list of exercises and weekly tracker, I’m getting back to basics yet again this week. Do you need to dust off some of those “tried and true” healthy habits and just get back to it as well? For those who are sticking with what they already know works, congratulations on keeping true to yourself. Good feeling, isn’t it? More power to you. Let’s have a great week!
Keep in mind these FOUR S's of weighing yourself:
♣ Same TIME of day (on the)
♣ Same DAY each week (wearing the)
♣ Same CLOTHING (and using the)
♣ Same SCALE to Measure Yourself - Remember, sometimes your scale won't budge but your waistline will.

With tools in hand, I'm ready to continue this journey. I'll be back o nmy "accountability Tuesday."

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...
Well done everyone on the weight loss!
lost 1.75lbs this week. Down to 10st 13lbs. Treated myself with some new clothes (size 10) as the size 26 and 20 ones are getting annoying.
Thank you, Janette and unfortunately, the holidays just have a way, don't they? This year, I think I"m going to splurge for a gluten free holiday baking cookbook. I want my cake and eat it too... lose weight but enjoy tasty foods and I'm certain it can all be done. What I'm doing is using each 5 pound increment on the scale as the next goal so as not to get overwhelmed. Glad you're back!!
Lupin, I love when you talk of changing sizes like that. Really is inspiring as to what the benefits are when we keep our goals in mind. You're awesome.
TanyaCF, I'm so glad you're taking stock in what's going on with your health. Congratulations on making changes. Try to remember to be patient with yourself. Usually, the unhealthier carbs make our bodies crave more of the same. It takes some time to learn the tools that really help us. Remember to love yourself and explore the great foods and habits that are left to learn. There is always a new tip, a new exercise, a new tweak to our plan. So glad you're here!
This was my birthday weekend so I've been away from the computer more than usual. So nice to see everyone here though!!
