That said, when I do want a snack between meals, I have found that...for me...2 Dove promises dark chocolate holds me over. It is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, helps raise blood sugar to stave off hunger and is a small dose of good fat. Dark Chocolate also contains flavonoids which are good for the heart and immune system. :)
It's kinda like cheating...but not.
One easy, yet delicious dinner I found was using Boneless chicken breast, pounded flat, spread about 2tbsp of reduced fat cream cheese on it top with salsa and reduced fat Cheddar, bakes at 350 for 20 minutes covered with foil, and 10 minutes uncovered. (I usually cut each chicken breast in half to reduce portion size to 4ozs)
I have the calories at home for that recipe, I'll have to look, but I know it isn't that many calories.......
I am doing Weight Watchers. I eat a whole can for lunch. A whole can of this is only 2 points. This is yummy, full of veggies and beans and very filling. I can then snack on a fat free yogurt and some fruit in the afternoon.
I also snack on wheat & honey pretzels. They kind of take care of the sweet and salty cravings at the same time and are very low in fat. If I eat them slow and drink lots of water, they help fill me up.
eat often small amounts(every 2-3 hours)
eat whole grain foods
chick peas snack
for dinner you can measure your pasta and chickpeas with a little olive oil and losts of parsley and garlic and that is yummy.
quaker granola bars -- they have a variety from 90 cal on up.
For me eating a big meal early and then
having a snack at night seems to help.
There are also protein powders/bars.
I was told to not eat starch when i get up in the morning start w/pomegranet-grape juice 6oz. w/ 1/2 scoop protein powder. or an egg then eat the starch about 1/2 hour later.
I hope this helps you a bit. Good luck on changing your eating habbits so it is not a diet but a way of life. I am and it is hard --- I am taking baby steps.
I hope these ideas will help you. Hugs zecilkl
HEALTHY CHOICE TURKEY MEDALLIONS-
Traditional Turkey Breast
Roasting enhances the flavor of our lean turkey breast medallions. We pack flavor into our stuffing and savory gravy with herbs, onions, celery and raisins, and complement this traditional, satisfying meal with a corn, peas and carrots vegetable medley and tart cherry crisp dessert.
They used to have a pumpkin desert with raisins in it, it was awesome.
I like this because it is full of flavor and has a desert! AND only 300 calories, perfect for lunch or if you get down to only a few calories allocated for dinner it is very satisfying.
I am sooo hungry now...lol
These are some of my favorite,
Low fat sliced meat of your choice rolled up in a leaf of lettuce you can add some grated cheese.
Serving of Low Fat Yoghurt.
Low Fat Musli Bar.
Bananna
Handfull of dried fruit and nuts.
I like all the ideas on here too, i will be adding them to my diary..
Keep well all.
fat free yogurt
light cereal bars
stir fry...using the spray oil...only one calorie per spray...as mush veg...baby corn, mangu tu, bean sprouts, plain egg noodles, then can use quorn pieces (very low in fat) chicen, prawns...all low in fat.
cottage cheese and grapes
banana w/ pnut butter
strawberries w/ low fat vanilla yogurt
pretzels
kashi granola bar
string cheese
handful of almonds
honey roasted sunflower seeds
any flavor rice cakes, but carmel is my fav :)
light whole wheat bread, one piece, w/ pnut butter then folded in half.
if I have a toaster oven I like to take a half of an english muffin, put a spoon full of pasta sauce (any type of tomato sauce), sprinkle a little low-fat moz cheese, then maybe (if I have it) some TURKEY pepperonis (sp?)...they are surprisingly good and low fat/cal. We call it a mini snack pizza :)
celery w/ a dab of blue cheese or pimento cheese or pnut butter w/ raisins...
lol, can you tell I snack ALOT :) People at work say I eat allll the time, but it only looks like it to them, b/c I snack more than eat actual full meals.
