I have chronic pain due to migraines and have some bad habits due to the fact that I don't always feel like cooking.
So, I tend to just grab something I shouldn't be eating or order pizza, etc.
My Doctor really wants me to lose some major weight because my lipids are high as well as my bp.
I think if I had some encouragement and someone to be accountable to it would help so much.
Just need to get started and keep myself from getting frustrated and quitting.
I can usually do pretty well for a couple of weeks and then I end up giving into sugar and then can't stop.
Low carb usually works best for me and Doctor said that would get my lipids down.
Lots of diabetes in my family and I sure don't want to go there.
Thanks for listening!

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

We love pizza in this house too. There was a time when I began making homemade pizzas the old fashioned style. When we started the gluten free living though, we have now found plenty of gluten free flat bread recipes, much healthier for our situations. My sweetie can sometimes suffer terrible migraines so we definitely keep track of our ingredients.
Sugar is something you can get out of your diet by avoiding juices and refined sugars. I like to use stevia.
Try not to feel frustrated.... just keep adapting new ideas to your success. You can do this.
I will be here everyday because I know right now I need alot of support.
Never thought of flatbread for pizza. Gotta try that one.
I stayed on a low carb diet for 3 months a year ago and lost 30 pounds.
My doctor checked my lipids after 1 month and they had gone down substantially and almost normal after the 3 months.
I feel so much better staying on the low carb.
My problem is that I do good for awhile and then tell myself I can have just one cookie and that starts the ball rolling.
Then I hate myself and just give up.
Not this time!
With your help, I am going to get back to a healthy weight again.
Looking forward to being here often.

I do know that it is all about lifestyles, and I have to kick cookies and other treats out of my life. I'm kind of like an alcoholic in that regard, it is very hard for me to just engage in "social eating" when it comes to sweets.
@Rose-Thanks. This does seem like a really friendly group. I really think this will be good for me. I need to be consistant and I think accountability will help me. I drank a protein shake for lunch and that really curbs my cravings. One day at a time.

I wish you the best of luck
