Lost the weight. But my arms and legs and face.
newmommy42
Probably thought I meant I've lost everywhere BUT my arms, legs and face. It's the opposite.
I am so concerned about my extremely skinny arms and legs. People tell me I have chicken legs. My face shows weight first though along with my stomach but not as bad as my stomach.
Also, my breasts are shrinking. I have been eating more to try to fatten up my legs, especially, but it's not working. All my new weight goes straight to my stomach. I have tried sit-ups and other stomach exercises but still bloated.
This is really scaring me. Anyone else with this problem? I am scared something else is wrong with me. It jut makes me to want to stop eating all together but when I do eat less and lose 5 lbs. or more I look anorexic and unhealthy. But I hate my tummy.
Thanks...Oh! And I'm 47...and a woman. Not sure if that matters.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

It's hard to give you much helpful feedback without more information. Pregnancy and childbirth can really impact our bodies. They can also impact our self image. I'd suggest you start by speaking to your family doctor and having a professional determine if you're at a healthy weight.
If you're a healthy weight...perhaps you just need to tone up to be happy with your tummy. There are specific exercises that will build the muscles in your arms and legs until they are strong, lean and fit. More on that if you need it just ask. It would be helpful to know just how "new" you are at motherhood.
If you're not a healthy weight... perhaps you don't actually have "chicken legs" but instead friends and family are simply not accustomed to the changes in your body and are being less than supportive when acknowledging them.
As for the sit ups etc. You can target specific muscles for building but you can't target specific areas for fat loss. As long as your muscles are covered with a layer of fat you won't get the definition you're looking for. What can happen is that building the muscles (good for you) underneath the fat can cause an increase in waist size (you might not be happy with the change but you'll still be stronger and less prone to lower back problems).
The bothersome thing about extra body fat is that we lose it last from the place that we are most prone to store it. For many of us that it is around our middle.
Hang in there and good luck.
You are right about doing sit-ups. There will be muscle under the fat so my stomach is firmer but still big. My husband says I need to do a treadmill or something to burn calories. Maybe I will burn them in the tummy area I don't know. No more fat in my legs or arms to burn. Just bone, skin and muscle.
You are correct. My face and tummy was always the first place for me to gain. This unfortunately runs in my family. Anyone had any luck at liposuction and tummy tuck for that last problem area?
Husband says as soon as we can afford it he's getting me one. He thinks my legs and arms are fine.
walk walk and walk some more. also use hand weight to do curls with your hands, followed by working out arms.
There are exercise that target different arm and leg locations. again I use weights.
Now I'm going to buy a bubble butt inplnats for myself. Granny going to be w/o use of baggy swim suit w oversize cover up. I have worked so dam hard to reach my goal.
You can have cosmetic surgery. have your breast put back in place are better and larger. point to sky.
I have tiny arms but when I flex my musal pop. I'm a lot stronger than I look.
For those with bingo arms, lay down marker, and have cosmetic on arms.
I'm having an eye brow/lid lift : )
research cosmic surgen. just because they used people as giiny pigs as part of their training, don't be another ginny pig. Just because there placks on wall and Dr has white coat don't mean that he the right Dr that above the rest.
Bed time for me. I missed my granny nap.
Oh ya. a friend of mine has calf emplants. her upper legs are fine but no matter what she did. he lower legs look like noodles. Now she has sexy legs.
Welcome aboard
You can continue to work out for overall weight loss, then work with a trainer to help you bulk up in your legs and arms if you want to get more definition in those areas.
Hugs and welcome!
About my tummy and legs and arms. Plus my butt is pretty much non-existent. All my weight is between there and my chest.
I have thought about joining a gym and maybe a really good trainer would know what to do about my problem.
Admiral mentioned calf implants. I really need those too. I don't really want to resort to surgery but if I did, it would be my chest, my stomach, butt and calf implants. Maybe something to my face, but don't need that right now. Not my biggest concern. Summer will be here soon and I love to wear shorts but I get a little embarrassed.
I need exercise, I know. But the comments here on your blog are excellent suggestions. Toning up is what I should have done, from the get-go! Now, I feel like what I am left with, looks "thick". Grrr, Isn't aging splendid? :)
sag is cost of doing damage to body, that woman allow men to do to them.
Anyone who has sag skin. will have it trimed and then work out. That's aprox $10.000 and up. your honey help you abuse your body so make sure he helps pay to get your body back so that you can get your body the way that you like.

I, myself do not believe in surg, unless it is getting rid of cancer, which have done that with breast cancer.
Anyway, none of our bodies are perfect. We can always find fault with something. We all gain in different places. I only had 1 child, but my stomach area is the 1st place everything goes.
I would say just excercise, eat healthy, and you sound like a beautiful person. In time our bodies will reboot. I am 63, and mine is still changing, but with the right eating and movement, I can be the best I can for my age......
