Hey guys, so I've been on and off "diets" for about 8 years now. In 7th grade, it started off just watching what I ate to lose a few pounds and then by 8th grade, it became me not eating anything except for a dry bowl of cereal that I would munch off of throughout the day. I would weigh myself when I woke up, go to the bathroom then weigh myself, weigh myself after I took a sip of water (which I didn't do often because I didn't want it to add anything to the scale) then I would try and force myself to go to the bathroom to try and get rid of the "weight" I just gained from taking a sip of water. Oh it was so bad, I really don't know how many times a day I weighed myself. I didn't eat anything and when I did, I went and threw it all up. Throughout the years it got better, but throwing up my food and avoiding eating still sometimes gets the best of me. For the most part, I don't do either. But when I am hardcore dieting and I eat something that I just feel ruined the whole thing, I will find myself in the bathroom over the toilet right after I eat it. Or sometimes I am too scared to eat anything. Idk, it's just something that is hard for me to break, even if I'm not doing it all the time.
Anyways, I am finally trying to go about it the healthy way. I am focusing strictly on eating in moderation and trying to eat healhier as well as working out. I'm just here to share my progress and to hopefully see other people's progress as well, hopefully we can all use each other as motivation and obviously support systems. I just really need this, nobody knows how much I hate the way I look and to the extent that it is. I just really need some support from others that don't know me personally. I don't like wearing my heart on my sleeve because I don't like symapthy because I get embarassed because I feel people will view me differently and it makes me feel vulnerable (something I need to get over, I know) so here is my first step.
Looking forward to seeing all of your guys' progresses! :)
Updated: I figured I would start with my goal and keep everyone updated.
I am 20 years old and I am currently in the 160's. I am looking to lose about 40 pounds by the middle of the summer, but my main goal is to just be happy with my body. So if that means that I've been working out and I love the way my body looks but I'm only at 140 pounds, then so be it. For now, I am aiming for a goal weight and hopefully in that process, I come to a point where I can focus on just how my body looks and not the number on the scale. :)

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

I have had my ups and downs. At the present I strive for 3 meals and 2 - 3 snacks. Something every 3 hours. For the most part it works and I drop a pound a week or stay the same. Keep up the great work!
Continue to work on your goal and keep up the good work.
I too am trying to shed some weight, about 20 lbs.... I'm trying to do it the right way this time also and you know what? It's hard! Worth it tho because I don't want to slip back into old destructive habbits and at the same time I also want to change the way I currently look. It's not glamorous, fast, or easy, but losing weight the healthy way seems to be the best option...
Best of luck to you!!!
