Has anyone had issues with food addiction and have you been able to overcome it? I could seriously use some helpful tips. I can go all day eating healthy but by the end of the day I find myself craving things to the point where I will go to the store or go to a fast food place just to get it and I can't control it. It's like I'm another person.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

Well, at that point, it's going to be about self control. You don't have to cut the things you like out. You just have to fit them into your calories. For example, I love ice cream, but for regular ice cream, 1 serving is so small, and anything more is way too many calories. I buy Halo Top ice cream (just bought 5 pints today). For 1 pint of peanut butter ice cream, it's only 280 calories. And it is so delicious.
Like sorefeet said, get single serve packages. Like oreos (I don't even know if you like oreos) but lets say you did. Don't buy a whole box. Buy a 4 pack or 2 4-packs. This way, even if you eat both 4 packs, at least it won't be a whole box. You may feel like you want more, but just think to yourself "That was really good. That will also be my treat for tomorrow")
Make the concious decision that you will not get in your car and buy a boat load of treats. You ARE a strong person. You CAN do this. You just have to really WANT to do this.
Great job for not binging today! Keep it up!
- I try to distract myself with something unpleasant. So I try to go to bed early and it is unpleasant to get up and get dressed and go down the stairs etc to get i.
- I say ok, you can have it, but you can't go get it for 30 minutes. Sometimes, by the time 30 minutes has come and gone, I have forgotten or the craving is gone.
- water seems to kill my cravings. Drink 2 glasses of water.
- have a cheat day each week. If I want something I can say, I won't have it today but I will put it on the list for Saturday. If I still want it... I get it. On the cheat day.
