Has anyone visited or been a member of Curves? What's it like compared to a "regular" gym?

The thought of going to a gym intimidates the hell out of me, but I have a coupon to schedule an appointment at Curves to get exercise, meal plan, and coaching for only $12.95 a week. There is a 6 month commitment, though the first appointment is no obligation.

What do you think? I have to do something, as I'm reaching my heaviest weight once again. I lost 16 pounds on Nutrisystem last year, but I've gained all but 3 of it back.

I haven't been exercising. The curves is convenient to my house, though. And my excuses, it's too hot, it's too cold, the planets haven't aligned properly, etc. would go out the window if I did this.

I would say go for it, but I would just do the first app't so under no obligation, to see how you like it.
If we use something, I believe it is worthwhile, otherwise it doesn't do us any good. Convenience to home does make a big difference. My best to you......

I'd surely give it a try if it's convenient and you need a program to get you going. :) What can it hurt? Best of luck with it and I look forward to hearing how well you're doing. Please post results with us in the Weekly Weigh-in. :)

I have been going to Curves for about a month. I have to say I really enjoy it, and I like working out with just women. I am out of shape, so it is a good workout for me. Unlike other gyms I have joined, I like the circuit aspect of it...I know what to do next!! :) And I love that it is just women, and women of all ages. They are very accepting. I have heard people say you won't get a good workout if you are in good shape at Curves, but I have 45 pounds to lose, and I have not exercised in awhile, so I love it...and I sure feel it. I would give it a try. I had the free week, and I joined the following week. I also do water aerobics twice a week.

I wouldnt mind looking into it. I like circuit training I do that with jillian micheals dvd. I cant afford it but may check it out!

I tried the 1 week free one time. It's kinda of a social 1/2 hour and get a pretty good work out. Not really intense. You can work up a little sweat. It's mainly for strength training. Your insurance might pick up some of the bill. I know mine would pick up 20.00 a month. I've been thinking of looking into it again. Go and see what you think of it. I've never done the food plan. That must be new. Of course this was a few years ago I was going to do Curves.

For that price, I would look into your local YMCA/YWCA or equivalent that offers a pool, work out classes and weight machine room. I am a member of my local gym that has all that to offer for less than $50.00 a month plus I can apply for a rebate from my HMO plan. I love the variety and find myself going more often. I was a member of Curves years ago but due to my workout partner working extra hours and calling out on me, I didn't go too often. Best wish to you.

    I'm horrified!  I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000.  I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter.  I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change.  Now this!  I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000.  I guess I have to pay...
