Hi all,
I'm wondering what everyone does when faced with cravings.
I confess I'm a sugar junkie. I'll eat fries and chips if they're in front of me, but it's not something I normally seek out.
What I'm really fighting though is a craving for sweets and bread/buttery kind of things. Yesterday I was a mess. I ate a lot of things I really shouldn't have and nothing really scratched the itch!
I see mention of detox diets. Frankly the idea scares the youknowwhat out of me -- but I'd do something for a couple days if it would help get the cravings out of my system.
I'm a big believer in eating sensibly and eating in a way I can sustain for the rest of my life. Doing anything really radical for a big weightloss payoff isn't on my agenda. I'm looking more for something that will help kick the sugar craving.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

I love this junk too much to give it up.
I am trying to work on portion control.
Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.
Good luck in doing what is best for you.
I'm finding myself pretty much in the same place as retired rose. Actually, the day I really fought my cravings I ended up eating a bunch of things that were 'borderline' and probably did more damage than if I'd actually had a sweet.
The days that I try to deprive myself of a sweet always seem to be followed by a semi-binge. The days that I commit to eating a healthy and sensible diet and allow myself a small portion controlled treat I do OK.
