Let's try our best to stay focused and keep motivated. We can do this. We've already done it.... and then life happens and we gain some back.
Let's post daily so that we are held accountable for our actions and will hopefully get the scolding and/or encouragement from eachother to keep going.
The kids are off for Spring break! Looking outside my window I can't even imagine that spring is around the corner.... it's cold and there are huge snow banks everywhere!
We're off to America to visit relatives and hopefully do some shopping.
Yikes....
Back from my trip and I've gained a few pounds. I'm now 149.5 lbs. TOM is over... yay... mind you, it was a different experience this time... it was very short while last month was very long. Menopause????? OMG.. I'm not ready for that!!!!!!
lol
My trip was quite successful. DD2 found her graduation dress!!!! The stress is now off!
Hello shy, i m very sorry, i was caught up. But now i can once again access this site from my phablet. So i will b more regular. Since past 1 month i hv been stuck up in 77-78-79 kg zone. Now i intend to break it. Today on11 march i m 77.4 kgs.
Shy thank u for wishes on my aniversary, its been 8 yrs. And yes we went for dinner. Why r u once again heading towards 150 zone? Buck up and pull it down to 140 again.
Hi Raymh!!!
Wonderful to hear from you.... I was starting to think I was the only one around :(
It's good that you have managed to maintain and not gain any more weight. You're right... it's time to get out of the 'stuck' zone and kick your body into gear.
Lol
I should talk....
yes..... I seem to be heading back up. But, hey, at least I'm not hitting the 150 mark. I think that would totally scare me.
I haven't been really concentrating on my weight loss efforts. I have been under extreme stress in the last two months. My period has also been all over the place... I think due to the stress. IDK. I'm going for blood tests and ultrasounds just to make sure that everything is okay. And this just adds to the stress.... it doesn't seem to stop.... it's a never ending cycle, it seems.
So.... I haven't really been eating well. I've been making poor choices. IF I am eating I'm trying to eat healthy.
Also, I haven't been sleeping too well either.... sleep is good for weight loss.
...
Anyways, that being said, I have noticed that I am getting my appetite back and I have actually been sleeping better in the last two days! I guess things might be looking up.
This morning I weighed in at 148.5 lbs... so I'm down 1.0lb from yesterday.
I just seem to be hovering around this weight. Maybe I'll do something about it now. I would like to be at my goal weight again by the time my birthday rolls around. That would be mid-April. I have one month to get there.... I think I can do it if things continue to improve.
Besides, spring is around the corner and I could feel the air getting warmer in the last two days. HOWEVER, we have a late winter storm going on right now and I'm not sure how much snow we are expected to get! It's horrible.... the snow will stop falling by this evening and then the temperature is due to fall again. Great. We are heading back into the deep freeze. We are to get minus 16 degrees Celsius tomorrow and, with the wind chill, it will feel more like minus 25!!!!
Agh..... when will this winter ever end??? It's the winter from hell.
I'm new here . Raymh thank you for inviting me.
Shy 16 I hear you about menopause, it can cause a lot of problems. Been there done that. You will get threw it. Sleep is very important in losing weight. I don;'t know about you , but when I'm tired I seem to want to eat more.
raymh you are doing great with your weight loss.what has been your plan of action to lose all this weight?
I weighed in today at 174.6 lbs. that's good for me. I started getting back on track In Sept 2013. My weight then was a bit over 182.lbs. I do notice I my weight fluctuates threw out the month. I have been getting back into exercise. Trying to eat better foods. Also, trying to watch my calories. This has been a slow process.. I have had to go to rehab since I have a bad back then took a fall and sprained my ankles. then to top it off i had dental surgery that threw my eating off for quite sometime. you can't eat great when you are eating liquids or much. Had eaten a lot of ice cream, told it would help keep my mouth comfortable. tried to use a lot of protein powder. used canned soups. it was a rough time. thank goodness this time around I didn't gain to much weight.
I'm not the type to lose more than 1 lb a month.. I know eat less you lose more.. Doesn't work for me. at least not so far. :(. My body has been in starvation mode a number of times. I was but on a diet by a dr. at age 8 .. that's when all my problems started.. looking back I don't think i was really over weight, however, my dad was and diabetes ran in the family... hence the diet. it was 1200 calories. sounds good right? nope.. I followed to the letter as mom made all my foods. didn't always lose ,,, dr told me you must be cheating. :(. no exercise plan was added to the diet. Now that's where all my problems started. Working on trying not to have a DIET mentality. I've been trying to learn how to eat all foods (even unhealthy treats) so that i don't get cravings and go into a binge mode. Seems to be working out.
I hope this helps you get to know me a little bit. Short of boring you .. LOL.
Zecilkl, thank u very much for accepting invitation, and telling about u in detail. Your approach is currect as yo yo dieting decreases body's basal metabolic rate, bt it will increase with d approach u r following
Glad to see you back Raymh.... or should i say more regularly....
I'm so thrilled that you are now into the 160's. I knew you could do it! Wow..... I'd better get back on the band wagon 'cause you're going to beat me soon!
@Zecilkl: WELCOME!!!!! I'm so glad you joined our group. May we offer eachother guidance and support during our journey to a better self.... mentally and physically!
Thanks so much for sharing your story with us...
That must have been so hard/rough on you, at such a tender age, to be put on a restrictive diet! Obviously it has caused you to have a love-hate relationship with food. I'm so sorry that you were subjected to that. It's just not fair.
I don't think people think about the repercussions of the well-intended diagnosis will do down the road.... people need to stop and think how this might affect the future of the child. I think these things are taken into consideration much more today than they were 'back then'. I think we, as a society, have learned from past mistakes. I'm so sorry that you fell through the cracks.
But.... you're here! AND doing quite well, I might add! You have a terrific plan in place. I believe that you will succeed tremendously with it.
BTW.... you have a great attitude... you do need to eat from all food groups to be able to shed the weight AND, I also think, you should be able to treat yourself. Why deny yourself the simple pleasures in life?
I started my weight loss journey in Sept 2012 and I did reach my goal weight around this time last year! I had a wonderful summer and enjoyed everything. I didn't get to the maintanence phase of my plan but I didn't let that stop me from enjoying my new body and attitude with food. I ended up gaining some weight back, about 15 lbs, from the end of summer to the end of December. So.... I've been trying to lose the weight again.... I don't want it to slowly creep back up.... not again!
I was doing well until about two months ago when I started to have a lot of stress in my life. I'm half way there but I honestly stopped trying by the end of January.
I'm starting to feel a little better and I am considering to jump back onto the wagon. Spring is around the corner and I would like to be at my goal again.
My goal is 140 lbs
What is your goal? I was around the same weight as yourself when I joined DS
Shy16 is that high for you?
I went up today. Too much eating out . Too much salt. 174.8 still I'm below 175 lbs that's a good thing. Hope I don't blow it tomorrow.. we're going out for sushi.
Thank you all for welcoming me. I read page 8 before 7. LOL
What I didn't' tell you all was... before I was put on the diet..... I was force fed. told I had to finish everything on my plate. So, even now I have trouble knowing when I'm full It's very hard. Also, the need to finish what's on my plate is strong too. I work hard at times to leave things over.
My goal weight is 140-145 right now. I know i'm only 5'2" but I read a long time ago that when you reach your 40's or 50's that weight is acceptable. of course, now if i tried to find that book I wouldn't be able to LOL
I'm supposed to be I think 120 lbs. Don"t expect to get that low. I'll be happy to get under 160 lbs again. I too have gained some weight back Shy16 I had a lot of stress too and a death in the family. so , things got way off track and with my back going out, a fall, dental problems... oh my... falling into old eating habits (comfort eating ) was easy.
I want to thank Raymh for inviting me to your group.. I'm going to have to get used to checking in daily. :). The support will be great.
I hope I can help support all of you too. It's strange all the ways we've tried to lose weight , all the programs that are out there and how so many fail for so many people. There is no one method for everyone. That's what I've learned. that we have to look at all the diet plans out there and gleam what will work for us.
there were two books i've read that have helped me. 1) "THE THIN COMMANDMENTS" 2) THE STEP DIET BOOK"
I got them out of my local library.. If you are interested check them out. you might find something to help you. I know I got something from each of them.
raymh keep up the great job you are doing by losing.. Keep coming and reporting here so you can get the support you need.
I don't know....
My scale must be broken. It can't be me... right??? lol
I don't know what's going on. Honestly. I'm just lost.
I stepped on the scale and it was at 152 lbs. I know that my appetite has come back somewhat but I've not been eating like crazy. I don't know.... maybe some residual effects from my trip to the States last weekend? A week ago? I did eat lots of stuff... that's when I noticed that my appetite was coming back. But I did get back down to 148.5 a few days ago....
I don't get it.
I'm not letting all my hard work go north again. I need to nip this in the bud. Hopefully I can focus on what goes into my mouth today. I haven't been following my plan for the last two months and have been in limbo with my weight. I was looking at jumping back onto the band wagon and get to my goal by my b-day... mid April. Now I know I have to jump on the horse!!!!! lol
I just need a couple of days to get back into the groove of things and hopefully I'll start seeing some results.
Zecilkl,,, I'm glad you found us and can give us your insight into your own struggles.
I think you have a great goal. It is very sensible because, once one reaches a certain age in life, one realizes that it is about health and not a particular number.
I've always thought i wouldn't go back to what I was.... I might have actually looked somewhat anorexic. lol. No... not really. The truth is, I liked where I was at. Clothes looked great on me and I was slim. I've had three kids and my body is NOT going back to the weight I was before kids. I don't want it to. I've grown,,,, I've matured.... I look better at 140 lbs!
It looks like we all have the same goal......
Zecilkl.... I totally understand about the stresses in life. It seems that when it rains it pours. It's crazy... we are already down and then we get hit at all angles... it doesn't seem to stop. I've decided to tackle one circumstance/incidence at a time and, hopefully, all will resolve in time. Some sooner than others.
The kids are off for Spring break! Looking outside my window I can't even imagine that spring is around the corner.... it's cold and there are huge snow banks everywhere!
