Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I get the feeling that Angela thinks that God isn't finished with her yet. Is that an excuse, or a fact of life? Interesting debate, no doubt!
some people are dicks.
therefore god must have the capacity to be a dick.
christians are people, some of whom are dicks.
dickish people + dickish lessons = westboro baptist church.
To the OP. I like this post. It is interesting and although some will probably say you are attacking Christians, I don't think that was your intention. I see it as you are pointing out a fact. Christians don't always act very Christ-like. I think where our thoughts differ is that I don't think all Christians think of forgiveness as a "cop out" so much as they realize their imperfection in God's eyes. I certainly don't look at God's forgiveness as free reign to do what ever I want, when I want, just because I know I am forgiven through Jesus.
Small minded, hate-filled people believe in a God of wrath who sends down plagues, wars, and locusts on those he hates. Patient, tolerant people are more likely to believe in a loving, forgiving God.
That makes more sense than anything I've ever heard.
My reasons:
What about truly good people who live a good life, but were never told about any organized religion? Why should they be denied a good after life because of that? Why should a good person, but one who is "less good" than the above suggestion, get better after life treatment because they believe?
Same arguments with time. At what point in time did the must believe in Jesus rule start? How about all those people who led very good lives, but died before Jesus was born? How about if they died shortly after Jesus started his mission?
To me it has always been, and always will be, how we treat others that is the criteria we are judged on after we die.
But if I'm proven wrong, I doubt I will be able to get word back!
In the main discussion , after viewing the link on his profile, I really don't understand how so many people are brain washed. This is a cult, not as big as the JIM JONES cult, but a cult.
Pepper - I could not agree with you more. I had never thought about the people who lived before Jesus Christ was born - but that is a great point!!
Yes, I am a Christian and I have met many good ones and a few awful ones who don't understand the meaning of being one. I try to live primarily by the Golden Rule and call it a day!

Personally, I think theres both good & bad in God & without Him. But its us as Christians that are to uphold Godly values/morals & draw the unsaved into the Kingdom of God. How then can we do that, if we playn in the devils playground? Hmmm? Yes we're human & not perfect, but to use that as an excuse to "Do what YOU want", means you wont be doin wot God wants...
May the peace of God, fall on those that read this post, may the Spirit of God lead u into all truth, & may u be blessed! =) Amen!
I don't understand how people follow cult leaders.
Mr. Petrolhead , seems you got out of that mess, just sorry that cost your family.
Remember the people in calif. that all wore Nike tennie runners and drank posion. Thats my point with the igorance issue. But 2 wrongs don't make a right. Before I close my goodnight prayers, I always incude ALL the D.S. members. I should concentrate on reading only. And only comment when what I say is a fact. :(
