Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

With family, friends and every relationship I have had this one constant and it's making me wonder are all people just blissfully deaf??? When I get depressed or angry I seek out quiet time and stay ALONE. I need space and quiet to think and process my feelings. I have told everyone I know that I may disappear for a day or two but once I've settled I will come to them, I dont want people following me or seeking me out.
Am I not being clear enough? Because I dont know of a better way to explain it. Everyone in my life just up and forgets everything I've told them and will come find me to try and hug me, try to get me to talk or ask the most annoying question, "why are you upset?"
I have wanted to punch walls everytime I have to repeat myself. Everyone I know gets 'White Knight Syndrome' and suddenly believes they can help me in their own way by not listening to what I need.
It's like the thought of me going off alone to clear my head is an insane idea.
What the Fuck is wrong with people????

I got an email from Kohl's that I had a 40% off coupon for today and tomorrow only. It took me about an hour but I placed an order and got some great deals. I have been wanting a new dress. I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

For me i have been in that darkness and hated myself so badly i wanted to end it. I needed someone to bug me and give me a hand out of it.
I can't help it now i try to help where i can. I saw a woman crying at the entrance to the hospital and i stopped to try and help her several times. In the end i told her i would pray for her and that is exactly what i did.
It may annoy you that people bug you and try to help you but they are at least trying. Not everyone has this in their life.
I think that people have made some good points here. Some people
think that they're helping you by checking in but they clearly are not.
Many people feel more refreshed with alone time vs. being with people.
I hate when I have been working for 10 hrs. and then everyone wants to talk.
I can get really irritable and try to explain myself.
I wonder if you explain that you need alone time to refresh but you are fine if that might help? I am guess it would not. The only solution that might really work is being behind a locked door and head phones on and a sign on the door that says I'M FINE. JUST NEED SOME TIME TO MYSELF
Not everyone has this. The choice of being alone vs having the support of people. I have friends etc in my life, but none of them are close enough to me that I can even try to let them in on my feelings or thoughts. So I end up having to deal with things alone. Not because I want to, but because I don’t have anyone around to help. All my close friends and family are on the other side of the world having their own lives, so have no idea what is happening in mine and that I may need their help/support. The help of strangers has been a blessing in many instances, but it is not the same as having a support network.
So my advice would be to be patient with people who sound like they care enough to go out of their way to be there for you.
If you want to be alone, maybe create a space you can do that. Send them all a message or email explaining you’ll disappear for a bit and they need not worry, try to keep it light so they don’t feel they have a reason to be concerned, then turn off your phone and isolate yourself in a place where you feel the space and quiet is what you need.
Just my suggestion.
