Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm just in need of a place to vent. I've been married for almost 11 years and am 32 years old with a 2 year old and 9 weeks pregnant. My husband is 31 and has a history of PTSD, depression and bipolar disorder. He has been in and out of therapy and hopsitals over the years. He has done really well the last 2 years without meds, but recently I noticed him biting my head off for no reason, tons of attitude, lots of other little things like no compassion, sweetness, sharing etc... so I explained my concern to him a couple of days ago. Also his job is screwing him over royal, like really bad. Moving him from a building he loves and people he loves, to a building that houses mental health patients (hes a maintence man) so that isn't good for his mental health. And it is farther away from our house without any increase in pay. But he feels like he needs to stay in order to take care of our family. Last night he shared that he is going to go to his therapist and maybe start up his meds again. I'm just so nervous. I don't think it is a bad idea, but of course the timing is horrible. The holidays involve a lot of family time which is bad for him and with me being pregnant...I'm not necessarly at my best mentally or physically. When we went through all the things in the past it was just us. Now we have a child and another on the way. I'm just scared, we don't really have a support group, as we never tell his family what goes on, they think mental health is a weakness and my family knows about the past, but it has come up to bite us, so its really not an option anymore. I guess I kind of have a touch of PTSD when it come to this coming up again...it makes me freak out wondering how bad will it will get. I love my husband and want what is best for him...and maybe it will be great, but history says it will be a ride!

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

to express your feelings. I will sincerely pray your husband's visit with
his therapist encourages you both.
I can only imagine how hard this struggle is for you. Praying you can start
to feel more like yourself soon, and this pregnancy can start to be a more
peaceful time as you prepare for your new baby.
I understand not feeling understood and supported. Our daughter suffers
with a serious behavioral disorder. Not many people care to hear or
understand how isolating a mental health condition leaves a struggling
individual and those closest to them. It's hard to see our loved ones hurt.
I commend you for not letting your fear keep you from expressing your
concerns to your husband. It is very positive he knows he must to be
proactive, and see his therapist, as well as, being willing to go back on
medication; if only through the holidays. Praying it can quickly balance and be
effective.
I hope you can rest dear one. Praying you both feel better and your
husband's work situation improves sooner than later. Keep us posted!
Blessings!
