Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm just super sad and lonely tonight. It happens every holiday season. I'm guessing I will feel this way again on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Some years have been better than others, of course, and this isn't the worst, and I'm thinking clearly enough to be grateful for that. I'm always glad when things return to "normal". For this week, December 26th will be slightly more normal than this holiday weekend. And next week, January 2nd will be the beginning of "normal" again. I managed to wean myself off of medication (I always take low doses) approximately 6 months ago, and I did well, but I just haven't felt right for almost 2 months now. I kept waiting to feel better one day, but I know when I'm beat -- I started back on the anti-depressant today, and I'll go to the doctor this week to get a new prescription. It's disheartening. I know people have worse problems than I do, so I kind of feel like I'm whining, but I also know how low I can sink if I don't let things out.
I hope everyone had a good or better holiday weekend, and I hope everyone's week gets off to a good start tomorrow. Thanks for reading.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I was on Pristiq for over 10 years and one day I heard this voice in my head telling me I didn't need to take it anymore so I stopped taking it and haven't had any ill effects. My thoughts are, you should talk to your doctor about what you are feeling. I learned that prescribing medication for depression is not an exact science so doctors often have to try different ones, at different doses to find what will work and what won't.
Anti depressent medication can help us through periods in life when our thoughts moods or behaviors are causing problems for us in other aspects of life. If you need it at this time, then you should take it. As in a situation like mine was, it doesn't have to be forever, just to help you out for the short term.
God Bless
If I stopped I would end up in a psych ward or dead. No shame in taking Meds.
