my friends and I were just chatting normally when they suddenly mentioned my ex. He's apparently doing really well, got a promotion, been eating and sleeping just fine and he's doing great.


My heart dropped right out of my chest at the mention of his name and then burst shattered when I heard he has already moved on so quickly.


I'm crying so much even though I've been trying to distract myself with drawing and watching movies. 


It hurts so bad, I want to confront him but he's playing the hiding game and not talking to me but talking to everyone else about me.

Confront him about what? He's your ex. He doesn't owe you an explanation. Time for you to get on with your life as well. Do what he's doing---eat right. Get good sleep. Go for a promotion at your job if you are working or look for a better job if you dont' like what you're doing. And why are YOUR friends talking about how well he's doing in front of you? That seems really insensitive to me. Be good to yourself. Give yourself time to grieve the loss of the relationship, which will often include crying. You will get over it. It just takes time.

I think it would help you to ask your friends not to talk about him. It would also help to give up the idea of wanting to confront him about anything. Just keep choosing to move on with your life and you will do better. Let go of worrying about anything that he does. I hope you feel better.

There are some great responses above. But, the grieving process can be....rough. But, moving on yourself is a great suggestion. Why are you still concerned about him? Please, it would seem he has moved on....do yourself a favor and start moving on yourself. Don't let him control your thinking process.

Getting closure can be over-rated. And it can be impossible sometimes. I do not understand the desire to confront him, what do you hope to gain by it?

Breakups can be painful, moving on is always the best way to deal with it.

It's usually the guy's fault. just saying. and I don't know why they would talk about him to you unless you asked about him. don't give him that much power over you, I'm sure he isn't really worth it or you two would still be together. Sounds like he really messed with you head, and I'm sorry, it took me 20 years to get over having my head messed with like that.

I normally do better when I confront someone, if they can just say to my face whats on their mind even if its just them saying, " fuck off your an obsessive bitch," it helps me really see them for what they are and I can erase them from my heart.
