Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm so depressed I don't know what to do. I chose to come to this personal care home when my previous one closed, instead of going to my own apartment. This place is hell. There is one phone for the whole place, staff and residents, so I can't even call a crisis line because the phone is always in use. The food is terrible. Lunch was sausage, peas and pierogies. I'm diabetic and a health nut. I'm supposed to have lots of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and I get none of that here. Just looking at what they serve makes me sick. I tried ordering groceries from the local grocery store: fresh apple slices. I put them in the refrigerator and 3 days later they were gone, stolen. My bed slopes downward on the one side. I told the administrator about it and no one has fixed it yet. The bed has no frame so the linens drag on the floor. There is no room for all the stuff I brought, and I actually left alot behind. No room to stretch out my yoga mat. I love doing yoga but not in here, and no there's no place else in the building to do it. I'm behind in my rent already and they're charging me $1300 a month to live here, this after I was specifically told that rent would be based on ability to pay. I can't get into an apartment because they won't accept me if I have back rent. I'm stuck in this place for God knows how long. I often wish I was dead rather than being alive here. I have no family, no one who cares about me.

I've started searching for a new job, but I really don't want to start again. I've worked at a certain law office for about 4 years. The managers haven't changed but the turnover rate for the associates has been about 95% in the last 4 years!!! We get new clerks each semester, which is great. The cases are extremely stressful. The paralegal and office manager are very toxic (unorganized,...

After work, I am taking a defensive driver course today. It is online and only cost $10 and it may save me as much as $300 on my car insurance. I got the information from my car insurance company. Little known fact about me is that I drive with two feet.

Complain and try to make the place better as you are staying there but I think you have a tough road on that.
Those on this board do care about you.
I don't know where you live, but I suggest you contact 311 and tell them your situation. You'd be surprised, they could guide you and get you help and someone to talk to also.
I've gotten plenty of help from them in the past; and, especially now with COVID, I'm sure there's something they could do for you.
Please give it a try.
I don't know what state that you live in but some states have a
Bureau of Adult and Senior Services that might be able to
help you to get out of this place.
