Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I can only assume that those of us here on DS come from different socioeconomic lifestyles. In our economic system we have a poor working class, a middle class, and a upper class. President Obama is once again making class warfare a center post of his campaign. Basically he is trying to pit the haves against the dont haves. He is proposing that the Bush Tax Cuts that expire soon be renewed for all tax payers EXCEPT those taxpayers earning over $250,000 per year per household. Obama contends that the additional taxes from the higher earners will fix our deficit problem.
The projections have been made, and the truth is that the additional taxes collected from the wealthiest among us will amount to enough money to run the government for only 8 days.
So whats the point then by taxing the 1% of earners more than the rest? Its simple class warfare. The strategy of divide and conquer which I find unethical. Thoughts?

Yep, may have been in his day... Doubt he would be now, as has been dead for approx 53 years.
But like I said, I hate politics, and mainly because people don't want change.
tax cuts. it means that the people who make more than 250,000 taxes will just have to go back to what they were in 2003. giving everyone the taxcut won'i help anyone either

Haven't been on DS for awhile as I'm dealing with a bad depression run but saw this post and had to put in my 2 cents. My college economic class taught me that labor costs are about 10% of a company's overhead, but that hasn't stopped the greedy corporations from shipping our jobs overseas under the excuse of a world economy when it should be unpatriotic treason. Since the corporations/lobbyists control our Government here in the USA's "Democratic" system, it shouldn't shock anyone that the 1% continue to rule and gain power to rival any Monarchy or Dictatorship. One CEO in the news just made 44 million for 1 days work to example what someone earlier said about the obscene ratio of wealth between the rich and middle class. Once you have a certain amount of wealth, it is very hard to stop your money from making its own money if you invest. I want to still believe in the American dream but believe that Capitalism needs (well) a cap. I think $250K is too low. Perhaps a billion or few is right, IDK. But, when you have enough to buy a whole country?? Come on! Go retire or share the excess and shut up. I'm sick of Corporations asking the worker for concessions when they say times are tough on them, but don't want to share the wealth when they prosper and/or can pay upper management wages that NO ONE PERSON could ever work hard enough to deserve. Rant over.
I don't get why the people who have taken risks and worked so hard to be successful are all of a sudden the devil. Where do people think that the job they have came from? Odds are it was created by some evil rich guy.
Are there some inequities in this world? Most certainly, but to attack the well of and demogog them is just stupid class warfare. Obama can't run on his dismal record, so he needs to invent a boogieman to get voters to rally against.
