Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I can only assume that those of us here on DS come from different socioeconomic lifestyles. In our economic system we have a poor working class, a middle class, and a upper class. President Obama is once again making class warfare a center post of his campaign. Basically he is trying to pit the haves against the dont haves. He is proposing that the Bush Tax Cuts that expire soon be renewed for all tax payers EXCEPT those taxpayers earning over $250,000 per year per household. Obama contends that the additional taxes from the higher earners will fix our deficit problem.
The projections have been made, and the truth is that the additional taxes collected from the wealthiest among us will amount to enough money to run the government for only 8 days.
So whats the point then by taxing the 1% of earners more than the rest? Its simple class warfare. The strategy of divide and conquer which I find unethical. Thoughts?

How about we REDUCE THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT ......... and NOBODY will give a rat's Ass about who makes more than anyone else because we'd ALL be able to live again.

To me the best "fair system" is centered on the concept that everybody/family should strive for being self supporting. The role of government should be to help make that happen; by real means not by artificial means.
The biggest failure I see in our government is letting jobs go over seas. How can American workers compete with foreign workers who are willing to work for a small fraction of what it takes to support our families?
Rather than lecture us on working smarter, the government needs to apply tariffs on goods manufactured in countries where the prevailing wages are low.
Like Bistro said, we need to fix our government. Make it smaller, and make it more efficient. Too many government programs reward people for being dependent on handouts rather than structure them to reward people for getting self sufficient.

Problem is they are referred to as law makers. They justify their existence by making laws whether we need them or not. Too bad that they don't take the same oath as doctors to "do no harm". :)
