Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm in a "numb" phase.. I went though my sad time, then angry.. now numb.. I like numb cuz I'm not emotional and crying, but I feel stuck in a rut.. I have things I need to get done and finals to study for, but I feel like I dont have the energy or motivation to get anything done.. I try making a "to do" list everyday, but lose track of time and by the end of the day I'm beating myself up over all the things I did not accomplish.. anyone else ever feel like this? Any suggestions for better time managment? How do I find my motivation again.. I honestly would rather stay in bed or watch TV than do anything... this is not good..

I am having similar problems. I just can't seem to get my paper written or study for my exams next week. Wish I had some advice other than try your best. Good luck getting through it all! Big Hugs!!

I actually try to focus on the main things I have to do because I have so so much to do myself that it overwhelms me....going through a breakup and school is hard....I need to go back to school but we broke up 2mos ago, my kids are emotional and my job is crazy hectic so thats as much as I can do. I go between depressed to overwhelmed to happy and when at happy I just enjoy that as much as can be. But I thinking keeping a to do list reasonable is best so you dont feel as if your not accomplishing anything.

I don't know a lot about motivating people. When it comes to making to do lists I try to keep things short and simple. You may already do this. But if your list is long , maybe trying to limit it the really important stuff will help. You are doing well just making the effort to make a list. There is certainly nothing wrong with having some goals for the day. You are already doing better than what I do. Many days I just wing it. I might have a thing or two in my head but for the most part I don't really feel that energetic. So I admire you for being motivated enough to have a list in the first place. I hope some of this rambling has something in it that helps. All the best to you.

my list has things on like' get dressed' 'wash' as well as 'read chapter 2 and make notes'I'd be mortified if anyone saw it. But ticking things that people take for granted off helps me feel like I've achieved something

You get motivation by doing more things. So set some time out to focus even if just in half hour slots till it's done. It's a battle to start but soon those half slots will pass by into the works completed.

I try to keep myself on a time line. I am on DS at a certain time, clean the house at a certain time, take a shower at so and so time. And cook dinner at the same time everyday. I know about being unmotivated though. Somedays it is the hell with the clock and I sit and watch tv all day and have to make myself even shower. I have been in that mood for a few weeks now. I wish I would get over it. Just in this funk that I can't seem to crawl out of.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
