Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Depression and complete hopelessness has taken hold. It is really hard putting on a brave face for family and friends. When all I hear in my head is Goooooodbyyyyye over and over....its like this stupid singsong voice that tells me it is over and I am just holding onto nothing and that my inner everything is gone. So why when there is no hope should I keep trying. For every comment (in real life) that says it'll be ok, I then look up the info that says NO FREAKIN WAY is there going to work or happen. I might as well just give up. It is just doing more damage to my psyche to think that there might be a way out of this. That someone could give me an answer that sounds resonable.
I don't need to be here. NO one needs me or wants me. Oh I know that hubby is doing the best he can but its not really worth it for him either to have a disabled wife. I have discovered that I can still clean and do laundry just fine.....God takes away all the things I am good at doing to leave me with the one thing that I hate more than life itself.
Its a joke.......I am a joke. LIfe is a sick cruel joke. No more I do not want to be here anymore.

Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light. John 12:36, NIV

According to His riches in glory refers to a biblical promise found in Philippians 4:19, which states that God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. This verse emphasizes God's provision and generosity towards believers.

Things can get better. Giving up is never the answer. Life had its ups and downs. Right now things are bad with this pandemic and upheaval. Depression can be hard to overcome, but it can be done, you have to take tiny steps starting with self care and self compassion. Learn what makes you happy and start off looking at positives in your life. Reframing how you look at things and slowly start building the life you want. There will be barriers. Try to think of the barriers and how you can get around them. Doing what makes you happy can help you build the foundation to move forward. Embrace life. Best wishes.
My husband lost half of his vision at the right side of each eye and had 38% sight left for many years. It happened when he was 24 after we were married for six months. After six more brain tumor removal surgeries his eye sight got worse. He can still see but is not able to write short articles that he used to love to do. He is 60 now and has only myself and our daughter as his support. Life can still go on. It would be a lot harder without families and friends. You have to fight. You will find that you can still love and be loved after this horrible incident.
I will be 66 in November. At 23 I felt my life was completely over. I had no desire to fight and couldn't see any meanings or hope for the future. All I wanted was to get out of life. I was not afraid that I would go to hell if I took my own life but continued to fight because I felt God wanted me to. It was very difficult and took a long time for adjustment to my new sick self. There were ups and downs. I found that to love and be loved is what kept me fighting. I hope and pray you will find reason to fight. If I could do it, you can.
I don't mean to sound cliche, but I know how you feel. There have been times where I am struggling with my own illnesses and health issues. There are times when I don't have the energy to do the things I want to do. I even keep praying for God to heal me, but there just seems to be no end in sight.
All I know is that God will get me through my problems, and He will heal me when the timing is right. I know he will do the same for you. I know what it feels like when we wish He would go ahead and just heals us, but His timing and wisdom is different from ours. Just be patient and pray.
God is not going to make sure that my bills are paid or that there in money in the bank to put food in the fridge.
I used to be able to do many things. I did do what I love until 11 days ago. I do not have the luxury of waiting patiently.....if God did this to me...which I do not believe -- I really don't want to have a single thing to do with him. I cannot be healed it is what it is there is nothing that can be done.
God has nothing to do with reality. I need to try to find a reason to not give up and hobbies are not going to do it.
Sorry if that sounds mean or rude. But I am dealing with reality not with fantasy and the reality is I need to make money and I need to work and I need to get the medical help that I need that I can't get.
Are there any hospitals or clinics in your area that have sliding scale fees? I had a full time job with benefits when my husband had the surgery that caused him to lose 62% of his vision. We lived in California at the time, and he had the surgery in the county hospital in Los Angeles. They set him up with talk therapy and speech therapy, and there was no charges for those treatments including the surgery since I made only $1,000 a month (that was in 1989).
You likely would qualify for disability? It seems like the adjustment is the most scary thing right now. I hope you have a lot of support and can get the medical help you need. Hope you get plenty of rest tonight.
I should have stayed in Oklahoma.
I need to try and heal myself.....not that it can be healed from what I've read it is what it is. There is no hope.
Anyway.....just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to be understanding.
This is a huge change and an even bigger devastation and it is only 13 days old...so no getting over it doesn't make sense when I am still in pretty much the beginning of it. and honestly don't know what I am even dealing with and still dealing with the initial fallout and medical stuff.
I am sure you are hurting very bad right now. There may not be such thing as getting over it as you feel but we can gradually get used to it. It may take a long time but it can happen. I hope you will feel stronger soon physically and emotionally and everything fall in place for you and your husband quickly.
Try to overcome the pessimistic thoughts. Keep safe and stay as hopeful and you can.
Yes I am aware that it might be possible for me to keep a car license. But I don't drive a car (lol I rarely leave the house alone when I am home which is not often) but because it was classed as a stroke and because it is such a huge vision loss I will lose my truck license and that is what I do for a living and for my business and for my passion and for my life and for my marriage.
I have lost my whole world......along with my sight... I have lost my entire identity along with my sight. All of my goals dreams hopes just vanished. I am basically here alone trying to deal with the grief and the ramifications and fighting to get medical attention and trying to research my situation all by myself when I am exhausted and depressed and worn out and hopeless and it is a lot.
I have no illusions about how strong I am......I have moved mountains more mountains then most people see in their lifetime. I do not want to climb anymore mountains and I do not want to achieve anymore.......there is no point it just gets taken away......it is not worth it to be strong and succeed.
Sorry trying to figure out where my head really is.
Thank you so much for your reply. It touched me.
