Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Okay so I am as much a "nut job" as any of you folks. I've been here since May. So I consider myself on the older side of new. I've suffered with depression for quite a while. I have been diagnosed since 1996.I find that being supportive of others helps me to maintain my own mental health. My profile pretty much sums it up.
I also have to say that I have come to love you folks. The DS depression board is a very special place with some very dear people.Okay I've made this long enough. Can I go back to my crayons and coloring books now????
i'm not new but i haven't posted often on the depression board, so i thought i'd introduce myself. i've been depressed for about a year, maybe longer. i've had anxiety all my life, and i struggle a lot with self injury which makes me more depressed. i'm kind of having a relapse now so i want to involve myself more here.
I'm new to this support group, but have been on Grave's Disease and Bipolar and Autism support groups since 2008.
I've had ongoing problems with depression since my sister died at age 38. My life sometimes feels unmanageable because my son has severe autism and puberty is really hitting hard the past 3 years have been hell for him (and me )
Nice to meet you all!!!!!!!
I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea this year and believe the build up of stress from it was the cause of my depression. I have good days and bad days luckily the good are start to out weight the bad.
I'm here more in the winter, when Seasonal Affective Disorder hits. And I do not live in California or some silly warm, sunny place, but northern Canada, where it is cold and dark. Real SAD! Hoping to move, or travel or something. I like the people here, and we have a lot of bipolar people that hang out here on depressed days. I hope that is ok.
Haven't been here very long at all.
Why am I here? I've done a lot of progress, or so I thought, in regards to a lifetime of depression but got thrown for a loop recently with my family and revisiting past hurts. I thought I had put that behind me. Other issues and trials I've had later in life I have been able to overcome, but the childhood hurts are most difficult and ingrained. I'm trying to undo a lifetime of unhealthy patterns. It took me more than 30 years to get like this, I just hope it doesn't take me 30+ years to undo it.
There's not much else to know. I'm just a regular gal trying to lead a regular, but fulfilling life.
I'm an artist; I try very hard to look on the bright side of things, it's my nature to do so, and I've had some re-training that way in the last few years!
I like to help where I can---and occasionally dive into funny stuff and get very bizarre & silly, and generally let loose.
Welcome, and I hope everyone makes great friends here.
I have chronic Lyme Disease and as a side effect I have had depression for the last 4 years but only started to get treated for it recently. I don't really have any super sad story, just me struggling with an evil non CDC recognized disease (they acknowledge Lyme but not Chronic Lyme).

To all the newbies.........don't be afraid to speak or to ask for help or support. There are some wonderful people here and they are always willing to help even if you just feel the need to vent.
Welcome to all of you. I hope you will find the support here that you need. I know I have!

I live next to ocean on east coast and am a young 42. :o)
I am new...only been here about a month. I'm already doing better since going on wellbutrin and prozac.
Although I have a private profile I love meeting people and making new friends...just ask! Very busy with 5 year old daughter and 6 year old son...if I don't respond right away that's why!
Sending you all positivity and mojo..
