I have been single for a decent while now which has affected my depression a lot. Since a bunch of drama happened to me earlier this year, I have not been much for dating. I kind of randomly meet a guy who seems to be great. He is really sweet and attentive to me. I am 26 and he is 33 which is not a huge deal at all. The problem that I am having with this is that I like him a lot but the few friends I have think this is a bad idea. They think this because he has been separated from his wife since February. He just filed for divorce last month. He told me that he hates her and that the marriage is definitely over. The thing is at the end of the day, he is still married. My friends think that I am being played for a fool because he is using me as a rebound. He seems to really care and texts me all day since we have started going out. I have tried to talk to him about us possibly being something exclusive and all he tells me is that if it happens, it happens. He says that he lives in the moment and it will happen if it is meant to. I do not know what to make of all this. I really need help because I hate being alone but am I making it worse by falling for him?
What the guy said to you...that is exactly what my ex is telling his girlfriends now. When they press for an exclusive relationship...he ends the relationship.
I would say to you he is not ready. He needs to go through the grieving process, etc that goes along with the end of the marriage. He needs to get through all the court and crap that goes along with divorce before he can emotionally be available.
Bottom line, he is not ready yet. You would be better off to let him go.... maybe some time down the road when he is truly ready to date and be in a relationship you guys can try again, but for now, he needs time to heal.
It does not take long for a divorce to get finalized Maybe you could tell him you need to put things on hold until it is final. I would also ask to see a copy of the divorce papers..
