Im happy to announce a new feature that weve developedTeam DS and Community Leaders now have the ability to Close Topics. Topics which are closed will still be visible on the boards, but will no longer allow replies.
Team DS and the Community Leaders can use this tool to help curtail clear cases of abuse. If a CL has closed a topic, he/she can send Team DS a message notifying us that theyve closed a topic. Well then be able to review the threads and determine whether or not they should be deleted, re-opened or remain closed.

Underneath the original topic youll see some text which reads, This Discussion is Closed". The Team DS member or Community Leader who closed the thread will be able to add a note in order to provide more details. This note can be found directly underneath the This Discussion is Closed text.

why not, will automatically notify Team DS that they closed a topic?
i like this update, but i dont like that a CL has the power to close topics whenever they want without supervision... thats a little much power.
The nails being hammered into the 'no opinions allowed' sign.
Im just messing about. It's both good and bad, people should be able to deal with others disagreeing with them without it turning into a warzone but I guess they can't so this is neccessary.
Oh yea, IDK, I am very sure that Jesse will let us know if we abuse this feature. And I have no reason to target anybody. Except for trolls!
I trust the judgment of the current CLs.
I'm sure this will be used only in the most necessary of cases.
....like when things get abusive. Abuse and disagreement are not the same thing. -- Sooo.... all of you who freak out at people who have differing opinions than your own.....this does not mean that a CL will close the topic just because you say so or want it.
All I feel about this is relief, thank goodness something is being done.

This evening, I will be submitting all of the suggestions and requests for change that I received in PMs, AND on my thread of a couple days ago, and I feel confident that they will ALL be reviewed with great care and consideration.
