Im happy to announce a new feature that weve developedTeam DS and Community Leaders now have the ability to Close Topics. Topics which are closed will still be visible on the boards, but will no longer allow replies.
Team DS and the Community Leaders can use this tool to help curtail clear cases of abuse. If a CL has closed a topic, he/she can send Team DS a message notifying us that theyve closed a topic. Well then be able to review the threads and determine whether or not they should be deleted, re-opened or remain closed.

Underneath the original topic youll see some text which reads, This Discussion is Closed". The Team DS member or Community Leader who closed the thread will be able to add a note in order to provide more details. This note can be found directly underneath the This Discussion is Closed text.

Plus, I like what I've seen so far, as far as closing posts.
I have one question.....Just because an original poster requests that their thread be closed, does that mean it will be?
.....cuz that would be kinda bad.....people post something and then later, after people disagree with them, they decide they want to close it. It shouldn't be up to them, it should still be up to the CLs and the Admins.

We try really hard to make sure that we apply the same standards every time we consider closing a post. This goes for self-requests, normal requests, and topics we find on our own!
