Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

My friends were talking about their past yesterday. They kept going back and forth between each other telling the group, but I found that I had nothing to add to this conversation. They talked about the cool things they’ve done, the crazy encounters they had, and about girls.
One thing that really bothers me is that I should be more grateful for what I had but when I think back, I have nothing good to say. When they talked about some of the cool things they did, I seemed to only remember how as a kid I had no friends because I couldn’t speak any English. For the same reason, I was also bullied and because of that I grew up staying to myself and avoiding any circumstance that required communicating with others. It wasn’t until only 2 years ago where I actually built my first real friendship and I’m still learning how to act.
When they talked about their crazy encounters, I could only remember all those moments where I had to mediate the fights between my family members. Keeping my brother and dad from harming my sister, making sure my mother did harm herself, or chasing after my mother or sister once they stormed out of the house.
When they talked about girls, I only remember all the times where I got rejected, how I’ve never been in a relationship, or even been in any physical contact with one. I think about how a few months ago I actually manage to build a relationship and open with to someone who very simply threw me away or how after that I built a connection with someone else, I fell in love with only to get rejected again.
I feel so dumb for talking about this because there are people with much worse to deal with, but I have nowhere else to go and no one to tell that I am slowly dying inside. The only person I have to talk to is God, but I don’t know why I’m suffering, why I can’t seem to let go, and why I can’t find the slightest bit of self-esteem. Its here for you all to read now, my stupid bullshit open to the world.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I’m sorry you’ve been going through so much. I want you to know your experiences are valid and your feelings are to. I can relate to having trouble with friendships and relationships. I struggled with bullying when I was growing up to. Friendships and relationships are still challenging for me today but one thing I’ve learned helps Is not to put to much pressure on yourself and not to rush things. I understand this may be easier to say then do especially if your hearing about all of these things your friends have done and it leaves you feeling in the dust. I understand what it feels like to feel behind your peers I’ve felt like that a lot in life. I want you to know that your not alone in life and in your struggles. Your not alone at all.
I born in a household where my parents were immigrants and just came to this country. None of us spoke English either, and we didn't fit in anywhere. I totally understand that part of what you wrote. It wasn't easy at all, and I got rejected a lot too.
As I grew up and got more Americanized, things got better. And don't think I had a million friends--I just had a handful and it was good enough for me. You are venturing out on the friendship front---that's great, it will get easier as you go along. And somewhere along that way you will meet a nice girl too. Hey if it happened to me, it will happen to you too. It doesn't have to be planned, it will just happen.
It's not hopeless, don't think it is. Things DO change, but slowly.
