Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Today is my husbands bday.... one of the nicest ones we've had for ages!
but then... 8 o'clock at night- his so called mother texts to say happy birthday... hope he's had a nice day with his beautiful family... wtf? It's been years of no contact and she hasn't even met one of out girls (her own grand daughter)!
he replied saying thank u and I can't help but feel furious because she doesn't even deserve that! Not because of the shit she always put me and our relationship thru, but because I am the one that use to hold him when he'd cry and feel like shit because she never cared... I am the one that has to explain to our daughters who they even are... I can't help but feel furious... not at him but at them. How dare they... after all these years of counselling and finally getting to the stage of being "ok" with how things were- now let's start it all over again- the fucking merry go round of hurt and continuous disappointment....

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Have you talked to your husband about how the text made him feel? Knowing how he feels, and him knowing how you feel, is the first step to a united front. Once you two have common ground future contacts can be managed accordingly.
If he still wants a relationship with his mother, then he can let her know that she must apologize for the way that she treated you in the past, and that part of his mom's obligation to continue is that she must never do the things to you that she used to do. This would be easier if she wanted a relationship more than he does.
It is possible that this is just a passing fancy. People who have mistreated others have made spontaneous gestures, but more as a random brain function than a real effort. And they revert to their old ways just as quickly.
I am sorry that she is putting you all through this.
Ain't your circus, ain't your monkeys.
God bless to all involved

Live for today!
I hope you allow your husband to make his own choice. It's hard when you feel a certain way but she gave birth to him and there is a connection there that you already know of because you have children of your own. My brothers had a harder time distancing themselves from our mother than we girls did. Support your husband and don't make him feel guilty or ashamed for how he feels.
We've actually even spoken about it together and it wasn't heated or pointless, like a genuine adult mature conversation!
My husband is doing really good trying to open up and converse with me to help and ATM I couldn't ask for more....
God bless!
