Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So I did get to choose a different health plan; they let me do this on the exchange network, I am so relieved. Blue Cross was not working out for me and I went with Oscar which is much more flexible and quite a bit cheaper. I've spent the last week or so calling around trying to find a therapist, some were not interested in working with me. Today I am here just getting stuff done-I get to keep a few of my old doctors now that I am back on Oscar, so I don't have to start from scratch again. I also was told that I don't have to get a referral for a specialist, which is a really huge relief. Blue Cross had told me I was not allowed to pick my specialist, and they chose the wrong one for me.
I was also calling around about therapists, and I called one in my zip code. Someone answered the phone, and it was the old secretary from my other, former, very well-liked therapist. She does not take my insurance, but I guess someone else in her office does, they are right up the street from me, the co pay is reasonable and they can meet after work hours. They already have my information and some slots came available at the beginning of the year, so thank God I have an appointment Thursday at 5 PM. It did fall into place. The secretary was so nice, too, and that can be a big factor. He remembered me and made an appointment right away.
Sometimes you can tell who is interested in actually helping you and who is not. When I was on Blue Cross trying to find a new therapist it was a big mess. I think the new potential one from Blue Cross was lying about the co pay saying it was 40 dollars when in fact there was no co pay at all. They sent me home crying. So I feel lucky that I have this option. And incredibly grateful that I was able to change my insurance plan-the premium is much lower too.

It's really hitting me since my mother passed a few months ago, plus stress from having to eventually move. Also having my niece coming around who suffers bipolar and refuses to take medication for it. Its been...

When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

I hope that you really like your new therapist!
Have a good session!
I talk to my therapist every single week. It helps me a lot.
