Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

After a long and heartbreaking session with my therapist we were able to come to the conclusion that I have atelophobia. Which means I have the fear of not being good enough or imperfection. Atelophobia is classified as an anxiety disorder that can affect relationships and makes the afflicted person feel like everything they do is wrong.
I got this way from past expierences with my dad who has PTSD and used to hit and scream at me and my siblings for just about everything that would set him off. I had learned to live so cautiously that even now into my adult life I still cringe and freeze up when I break a dish, forget to buy something or bump into someone. I have this underlying fear that someone is going to hit me and scream at me that I'm stupid and need to grow up or else.
Even though I have already forgiven my father I never realized it takes more than that to get rid of this deep rooted anxiety thats been growing and controling the way I've viewed myself for years. Saddly there arnt any medications for this type of disorder, though some depression meds could help they dont attack the real problem. The only way to get rid of this is through will power and constant reasurrance to my brain that failure is a learning experience and its ok, I'm gonna be ok.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

From my research, meditation requires emptying the mind of all thoughts and focus on breathing .... deep belly breathing and slow exhalation. I use this exercise to fight insomnia and it works about 50% of the time but don't see how it alleviates anxiety or depression.
