Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So as predicted, I was let go from the temp role. I figured that she was keeping me there just because she was finalizing the termination paperwork with human resources. I could not figure out why she was keeping me after I didn't pass the final round of my demonstration on Friday. She said that if I didn't do well in the demonstration that Friday would be my last day, but then she said to come in on Monday after I didn't do well in the demonstration. Then today she came in and pulled me aside and said that they would be letting me go immediately, and she got my stuff. The poll worker training was starting tomorrow. It was stupid I got through the entire training and then never got to teach the classes. I am upset about it but at the same time am not because it was way more trouble than it was worth. The nit picking and being called into the office every day for every little thing was maddening. It was very intense and dramatic and there were times I could hear people gossiping about me when they didn't think I was there and one day I set up an entire classroom and then got told I was noncompliant??? It was unreal.
I have the interview for the factory job tomorrow and another potential interview later this week to work with autistic kids. A recruiter called me earlier this week about a professional tech role. To be honest, it's been a year and a half and no one will give me any professional experience in my tech degree area and soon I think I might move on from that path. The recruiter asked for my resume for a role, he looked at it, and said, "This is the updated one?" He saw the short contract that I had a year ago and then saw that I haven't worked in tech since, that it's just been teaching. I've been interviewing all this time but keep getting passed up. I think part of the problem with the jobs that I've been taking is that they are "get by" jobs that I am not that passionate about and they are not what I studied for. It was really distressing to hear the tone in his voice on the phone when he was realized that was my only experience after I left school. Again, the role he was hiring for required two years experience. I don't always understand why these recruiters call when they darn well see your resume and Linked in to begin with. Can't they see that you are entry level? Like why are you calling then?
Voc rehab called me recently and put me in touch with a vendor who works with professionals. I emailed him and CC'd the Voc Rehab coordinator and he has completely ignored me. I feel like I have been drifting for the past year and a half and my life has no direction. I was hoping this temp role would stabilize things a little bit. It turned out to be extremely punitive and very stressful. I might have to return to the classroom as it might be the only lane that I can function in. This current role that I tried was a corporate training role, but every little thing I said and did they had an issue with, tiny things, it was crazy. It would have taken time to get to a the level of competence that they wanted, it was a pretty complex workflow. I finally saw the lead trainer take the pollworkers through the lesson and it finally clicked for me. Prior to that, I was just trying to learn it from a piece of paper, all of this machinery and procedures and it was very detached. I think if I had done it a couple of times it would have been alright. I would have been teaching small groups of eight people but they didn't even trust me to do that. For years I taught to lecture halls of 40 people at at a time. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. An improvement plan with a one day turnaround??? During onboarding??
I know working with austistic kids can be quite difficult and I though I do have some experience with it, a lot of this would be summer work, I don't know what parts assembly would be like. To be honest, if a tech job hasn't come through after 1.5 years it probably will not by now. The new schoolyear is coming and I've seen some appealing education-adjacent roles. I might have to face the reality that I might have to give up a dream. This temp job I recently took was never a plan of mine, it was kind of a last resort. I'm still not happy I lost it. I did try very hard to learn the material but it was very difficult if I'm being honest. I had a much easier time learning the procedures at an engineering firm when I did product testing-not nearly as confusing-and it paid far more. I reapplied with them as they have a permanent position. I never wanted to leave there, but left because I didnt' get paid from them last summer and that was a real problem. I absolutely loved working there and wish I could have stayed and they said they were sorry I was going. I think about them all the time. So when I saw that they had a permanent job I was wondering if I should reapply because of what happened, and finally I did. I reapplied Sunday and I would jump at the chance if they called me. I was thrilled to get my first opportunity out of college and totally devastatated when i realized that the timecard kept getting denied. Something was wrong there, either on the recruiter end or theirs. It bounced me right back into the classroom and I wasn't able to break back in to the field after that.
I don't understand why things are like this.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I hope the engineering firm contacts you.
In the meanwhile, are there any other employment agencies that you can apply to? Go to job fairs?
Go on Facebook and reconnect with past employers or employees.
Think outside the box.
Get the word out what you are looking for, Tell people, everyone you know, that you are looking for such and such type of position.
You're trying so hard. I hope you find the job you are happy with, and soon.
I would spend some time assessing what they said went wrong for your future in a constructive way
Are there things that can help you if there was some change?
Just being unkind is awful and hurtful
Sadly there can be people who are just unkind
It would be great if the firm you liked contacted you but they didn't pay you
I would have sued them
What about teaching nightschool?
Assembly line work I imagine will be really physically hard work
Fast moving
I hope that you find something soon where you'll be happy and valued...xo
Anyway, I've been looking for remote jobs on this site lately:
https://wantremote.com/
Good luck! Crossing my fingers you get the dream career soon.
I have heard but have never been a teacher that teachers can have a hard time transitioning to other careers because teachers are totally in control of their classroom but find that the new job is not much in their control. Regular people like me know that I will not be in charge of much at a job. This could be false and was just something we were told.
So many people are having trouble finding jobs, I keep writing my son took a year but he didn't try much for the first six months due to deep depression but he doesn't say that. I hope his new job is better. He has a lot of management type personality to off but gets jobs where he is not in control of much and management doesn't give a hoot what employees think.
There is also the website rat race rebellion for online jobs mostly admin assistant types. If you try these, change your key words in your resume to show the key words in the job announcement and not the ones that show your control of the classroom so much. Customer service, good listening skills, typing, whatever.
Nasty!! and hurtful
You should write a letter and mail it explaining your experience
So not cool!
Big hug sweetie...xo
