Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hello. I am new to this website but thank god I found it. I've been battling crippling depression for the past few weeks (I've been diagnosed with depression for the past 15 years). I have tried to reach out to my parents who have been supportive in the past but this time they just don't seem to understand or won't understand. I just got new health insurance and am waiting to get a much needed new therapist and psyc appointment but they are booked for a few weeks. I really need help now. I feel so lost. My sisters who also have histories with depression are trying to help as much as they can but they have their own lives and plans and I feel bad asking them for help or to listen. The same with my boyfriend. I know he wants to be there for me but I'm worried I'm a burden and a downer. I'm worried about losing the people I do have by being a burden and getting in the way of their lives. I really don't know what to do or where to go.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I can tell you what I did. I held on, I got support here on DS, I talked to my husband and family and friends when I could. I looked for solace in reading uplifting things, articles about how to deal with depression. I watched movies. I wrote in my journal. I listened to music. And above all, I tried my best to fight the despair I was experiencing. I hope you will continue to write and share, and you will get through this difficult time. Never let yourself think you are a burden, everyone goes through an illness at some point, those who truly care will be there for you. Big hugs to you.
Great idea to follow through with a therapist and possible medication this soon as possible.
