Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
working for someone else is not at all pleasant. working as a social worker is about the worst thing you can do as far as a job concerned. yet it's what I'm stuck with. I'm feeling really down about my current position in life, really unhappy, about the day to day stress, everyday you are expected to have the answers to really obvious questions, and nobody wants to hear the truth, and when you tell them, they don't hear it. I'm really feeling bad, not quiet like suicidle, but more like what's the point? What's the point in continuing like this?

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

Does anyone follow her? She's really got some good tips.

Keep answering the questions: they may have memory problems or mental difficulties. When I get very bad anxiety I can barely remember my own name.
maybe there's another way for you to earn your living? What night classes could you take? what other dreams have you had over the years?
could get training to go into another field.
I think the thing is to take stock, look at your 'career plan' as a separate thing, and make the decision, and then run with that decision regardless. Which is to say, override your feelings. Lock in a decided upon choice and go with it.
to think that you have to work for someone is part of your trapped thinking. Working for a good bunch is vastly different from working for a bad bunch. Vastly. Working for decent pay is psychologically different from working for low pay. There's a lot of stuff acting on you right now that you are able to change in a different work environment, even though you're still working for someone and you're still drawing a paycheck.
So sit down this weekend and figure out 'what do I want out of life and how do I get it?' and then just chop it up into bite-sized chunks. Your plan might take a year or more but HAVING that plan changes how trapped you feel and working towards it increases your happiness. Getting there means you can actually escape.
