Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So does anyone here know anything about or have any experiences with Ketamine? I read some on it, and what worries me is that Ketamine apparently induces dissociation. I almost can deal better with depression itself than disscociation-which seems so weird to me. With depression I can kind of push myself out of it, not so much with dissociation. IDK. The infusion is not covered by insurance while the shots are. I will talk to them about it tomorrow. I have an appointment for a consult tomorrow and I have to admit I'm scared. It's a new treatment. I guess I shouldn't be more scared of this than a hospitalization or an attempt, that would be something to really fear. I'm in an OK place right now, I just wonder if ketamine could improve upon residual symptoms. I've read some horror stories online. IDK.

I can't believe this has gone on this long. So I don't have much hope of getting a tech job, but I saw an educational job that I thought might be really good. It would have been working at a university supporting high school students who are taking college classes. I did a mock interview with a friend and prepared extensively. It was at the university that I graduated from. I was very excited...

I'm so depressed right now it's overwhelming, my mom might not make it, she has been there for me through my depression and anxiety, when no one else was. My siblings don't give any support and jus say I'm crazy. They are ignorant and cold when it comes to mental health. I feel so alone now knowing she won't be there to talk too and try to understand best she could, Always loving without...
I have researched ketanine for a couple years now. The infusions are what I know about and from what I understand, can be intense. The other modality i read about was the new nasal therapy. From what i remember, it is nowhere near as effective as the infusions. Maybe the shots qre somewhere in between those, idk. I booked two different fenters to do the treatment before the Pandemic and both were covered by my ACA HMO plan belueve it or not. I had to really research and find the needle in the haystack of who was covered but then they stopped and i was forced to aign tgis hideous legal contraxt that i would pay for ALL the sessions in cash...a couple thousand dollars. I becamw very ill after that and could not go even though i had ER records and the like to prove I was too ill to go. So, do not get roped into something like that!! It was called Denefits i believe and they left horrific threatenibg phone calls for months! They pressured me into signing also. Total nightmare.
However, I still want to do the infusions but with a guided psxhotherapist or experienced nurse availavle for the reasons you describe. Anyone can reaxt in a number of ways so it should not be taken lightly. These pip up centers near me that are all in one health places do NOT have the experience to deal with this imo. I would only go to a place that is focused just on ketamine. And i would have my own therapist or ine available because you can have a "bad trip" so to speak. If you've ever reacted badly to pre-op or pist op meds, that would be note worthy because they use ketamine in pre op. I would just say, do your research, ask tons of questions from them (& not just a sales pitch) & your PCP. Your pcp should kbow you and know if this is good for you or detrimental. Have you ever hsd a drug Genetic/DNA test done? That will tell you what drugs will be a red flag or do not work on you. For your own confidence, you might consider it. But mainly, a therapist maybe onw that knows you. And hopefully one that has done the shots of ketamine.
Finally, Harvard and Boston Mass hospitals have done premiere studies on ketamine. I would google the ketamine shots and badcreactions from patients and read the studies of how many adverse reactions there have been. Tp me, the only way to quell your fears is by being armed with knowledge. That way you can make an informed decision and not just go off of what may be an advertisement. Personally, i definitely want to get infusions once I get other health issues taken care of. It can he life changing. From what i have read, the results can last for a year(s).
Wishing you good luck and hope for a successful outcome!
