I have been on meds for hypothyroidism for years and about four months ago I quit taking them for some unknown reason.. I was doing good, felt good was hitting e-bay and making money and was pretty damn proud of myself.. Then a few weeks ago, I hit the black hole... felt like I wanted to die (well Im sure not really but I wanted out of my slump) and I started having major panic attacks and missed a whole hell of lot of work.. Thank God I work for my son.
I finally pushed myself in to the dr. for a med change to see it that would help.. It isnt my old dr. but another that I had not been to.. I immediately broke down on him and begged him for help.. I told him I couldnt live like this and my body was shaking all over. We discussed a whole bunch of things and he mentioned my thyroid pills not being renewed. He then proceded to tell me more then my other dr. ever told me....
Your thyroid can mess with your hormones and other things that you might not be aware of.. The anxiety, depression, lack of energy, no metabolism etc etc etc... Now I am an old bear and I should have remembered that...
He put me on a new med that is out that is suppose to combat depression and the panic attacks.. Until they kick in I am taking Klonipin which is helping but making me tired... I will let you know how it goes..

A 'honked up' thyroid causes havoc. So does iron deficiency ... and a lot of other things. People with 'mood' problems really need a good lab workup ... it's not always 'brain chemistry'.
This is something done with a simple blood test and I agree everyone should have it done.

You are right, people need to have lab work done.. If it could even make one person here feel better, I will be glad I put out this message...
I've been taking synthroid for about 6 months now. It's made a huge difference in the way I feel :-)

I think because I am bi-polar that I was manic for three months and then took a bad dive... But hopefully it is the thyroid meds and they will get me back up again... I will keep you posted... and I will keep you posted about the new antideressent they have me on... Im not expecting miracles....... just to feel better

I get my blood work done every year, as part of my physical. I assume a check for thyroid is included, but maybe I'd better ask. I know the prostate cancer is a separate test, I have that one every other time. So far, so good.

Juice, I think you should talk to her again and tell her you want to be retested and even though its a little low, if it might help you to feel better that you need something... Its worth a try...
I was watching DR. OZ once and it said that there are really two things that they need to look at but some drs. only go by one of the readings.. I wish I could remember what he said... Oh yea, its wasnt Dr. Oz it was Dr. Phil and it was his wife talking about it.. I should have paid more attention.. But yea, I would tell her to test you again and that you need help... I went into this dr. crying, shaking and could hardly talk and begged him for help.... I told him I would pay him any amount of money I could afford to help fix me.. lmao... He probably thought I was quite the fucktard.... I had never been to him before...
Keeping my fingers crossed and go get checked again...
