Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Ok I know you all are probably tired of hearing for me and it seems like I don't listen to your advice. That's not true, I do listen, and some days are better than others. Today is a very very bad day.
I can't eat, I can't sleep, and I don't have any desire to shower or do anything. I've been either on the couch or my bed since 4:30pm yesterday. I just want to die.
I left my ex last July. I felt sad in August and then seemed to get better. But now it is all hitting me again. Things weren't bad between us in July I just was attracted to someone else and thought I was doing the right thing by breaking up with him. Nothing even happened with that other guy. I don't care if I ever see him again actually. My therapist says that it is human to be attracted to other people sometimes. What is important is if you act on it. I didn't cheat on my boyfriend, but I did break up with him. For what? Now I feel like I don't even want to live anymore. I feel an ache in my whole body. This is just awful. I'm thinking of ways to end my life and I won't do it just because I could never do that to my family. But Oh my God, I just want to die!

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

I understand how you are feeling, I have been there. Suicide is never a good option. Sit with your feelings, the discomfort, the pain, just notice your feelings and let them wash over you and leave you. It takes practice but helps me. Do you have any hobbies? Ways to distract you? I need more hobbies!
Just know that you are an important person and if the only motivation now is to stay alive is for your family than use it. It is important for you to be kind to yourself. I read these boards often but rarely post. Knowing that you are not alone in feeling this way can be a big comfort.
You mention the end of your relationship. For me it was the end of a career that I loved. Disappointments are a part of life as are regrets but for those of us who suffer from depression they are magnified. Don't play the what if game. All you have is today and today you need to take care of yourself. My psychiatrist told me yesterday its not about battling depression it is about managing it. Try to do something now that will bring you a bit of comfort. Take a long walk, bath, read a book, or watch a favorite movie.
It will get better. Keep working with your therapist. I have had major depressive disorder for many years but it is much better now than it used to be. Take care and big hugs.
With you having these thoughts of wanting to die and not having the unction of wanting to do anything sounds you might be dealing with depression. Are you on any depression Meds?
We all make choices in life, that's a part of life but, with these choices comes consequences and, that is the hard part we have to deal with.
Don't be so hard on yourself. We all have made these type choices somewhere along this pathway we call life.
I learned a long time ago, you can't change the past. I have a little slogan I remind myself of and it is this "what is past is passed". We must go on with life and seek happiness for the future. I don't like to see anyone say they want to die. I lost my 37 year old son in a car wreck in 2005. Death separates and is so physically final. I hope you can find some peace inside yourself and move on with your life. I pray that you find the peace that you need.
It's great that you have a family that cares about you, and that you
value them. I hope you'll become determined to stop the 'what if and if only' thoughts and see what good things are ahead for you.

If you have made mistakes, even serious ones, there is always another chance for you. What we call failure is not the falling down but the staying down.
