Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
You are not alone. I suffered abuse as a child, survived a bad marriage, a shooting and unfortunately some other very distressing events. I suffer from PTSD. I have cut because I have no emotions and although not healthy it relieves what I am feeling. I am in the process of trying to stop through coping skills. You are not worthless. Every person has purpose. Arguments are normally not faults but opinions of each person. The way your ex treated you was wrong. No person deserves to be treated that way. Do you have a therapist? Sometimes it helpful to talk to a professional in order to help you sort things out. If you feel suicidal you should consider calling the crisis line at 1-i00-784-2433 if you are in the US or a crisis line in your area to talk with a professional. I know you probably feel like your world is ending, but it will get better with help. Please have hope. Post here as often as you need. Folks here are very supportive. Hugs and peace.
I think that we all have bad periods of times and sometimes we don't know what to do or who to turn to
This staying in has really gotten to me as well as a bunch of other things. I've been depressed, cranky and started to really beat myself up today. I think that your coming here is a great thing. People are here to help and support you through this time. Things will get better. You were hurt and treated badly and internalized this---Funny how some people who are really not nice, think the world of themselves and don't "beat themselves up". Just think of that for awhile. It is hard not to have anyone to hug.....Can you picture someone that you love or loved you just hugging you as you hold onto a pillow tonight. Sometimes that helps me.
I was hyperventilating recently and totally freaking out and I felt like I couldn't get a deep breath or get enough air but actually hyperventilation is that you are getting too much air.
Glad2Help, thank you for suggesting the church, before this lockdown started I often saw a couple in my city with booklets and ready to chat to anyone that wishes to and it has crossed my mind as I felt all this building up but with the lockdown no one is about at the moment.
I will see a counselor when I can, just hope this lockdown finishes soon.
Thank you again for all your support.
