Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
at the risk of sounding rude, i don't think it's that hard to stay within our terms of service. trust me, we'll always give the benefit of the doubt to folks, and we understand that in the heat of passion folks sometimes say things that they didn't mean.
we don't take action until we see repeated cases of truly inappropriate behavior - personal attacks or insults, threats, or other forms of obvious harrassment or evil. oftentimes, folks on our community can't understand what their friend could have done, but remember that what happens on the boards is only part of the equation. if someone sends a threat of physical harm to someone via a message or journal comment or hugbook, that also violates our terms.
the biggest trap for folks on DS, i've found the hard way, is biting your tongue and not retaliating to a provocation. someone insults you, so you insult back. i understand the urge, but that doesn't make it ok in a community like this.
i know it's frustrating not to have hard rules, and i can promise you that we've had more meetings here than i care to admit about what's ok and not ok. if you've got specific questions, you're always welcome to ask and i can give you my best guess. we don't have a "bible" here, and there are others who help out with member care, but i think we're pretty close to on the same page regarding this stuff.
please continue to remember that it's neither our goal nor intended purpose to monitor these boards...we don't look over your sholder and we couldn't even if we wanted to. we simply respond when alerted to a problem.
hope y'all have a good weekend.
I got reported last week for I don't know what. Something about inappropriate posts but I still don't know to this day what I offended people with...could we at least be referenced to what we've offended on? No naming of names just the thread we've been out of order on so we know for next time. Please?
thank you
I o not see why this site cannot have something similiar.
A clearly defined definition of behaviour which will not be tolerated, and subsequent actions that will be taken.
It doesn't have to be long and drawn out.
Not only would it be a reference point for those who are unclear of the standards and expectations here, it is a way of covering your ass Doug. Your site, your expertize, your risk, if it were me, I'd cover all of my bases, thats all.
Good weekend to you as well.
(again, just my humble opinion)

we DO have a terms of service and guidelines...here they are:

Just to much hurting and fighting does not help anyone.
I support you all the way on this Doug
Thanks for stepping in:)
Keep up the good work Doug how you keep from banging your head against a hard object i'll never know.
Might I suggest one more time that the 'ignore' button be implemented?
That way I would be able to converse with whomever I want and ignore those that offend me.
I appreciate what you are doing. I haven't posted too much in the past 2 months due to all the fighting.
Thank you for your efforts.
Encouragement for you and your staff to keep at it.
