Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Along with my severe asthma, I've recently been told my liver and kidney function is now impaired. I'm only 18.
Some of this may be TMI, but anyway.. recently my kidney situation has gotten so much worse, I am basically urinating predominantly blood, not urine. I've had blood tests, urine tests, ultrasounds, X-rays and CT scans and all of them show nothing which could be the cause. On the CT they have now found free-fluid in my abdomen as well. I've become severely iron deficient which isn't helping.
I've had to go on a temporary break with my partner of 4 years because my health situation has become too much on us and it's something I need to learn to deal with myself before putting it on him.
And because of all this, I just don't want to try anymore. I'm so close to saying 'stuff this' and simply giving up. No matter how many times I explain to my parents how everything is impacting me, they always say 'well can you imagine how everyone around you feels then?'
I'm on medication for my depression, Lexapro 20mg a day, but even now I really don't feel a benefit. I don't know what to do. I cannot get employed or start studying because of my situation, I'm good for nothing. I don't know what to do, I don't want to do anything besides curl up and pretend I don't exist.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

God bless. Ill keep you in prayer.
Sorry to hear all this. Keep us posted with the medical developments and progress.
It is difficult being in a position knowing that this doesn't happen for no reason, but not finding a single cause whatsoever.
I would rather my doctor come back and tell me I have massive kidney stones than be in my current position, because at least that can be fixed.
I just got back more recent blood test results and my iron has dropped even more, and I'm beginning to suffer low blood pressure (I'm averaging around 88 over 42 everyday) so there really is no doubt I'm bleeding from somewhere in my body. I guess it's just extremely frustrating because at the moment, nothing can really be done.
It's more emotionally difficult to acknowledge for me, I would be more accepting of the situation if I was far older, perhaps in my 60's or 70's. But I'm not yet even in my 20's.
I guess a bit of fear with this situation has set in as there is an extensive family history of kidney failure before the age of 25. Not just kidney but also heart failure. And recently in hospital, ECG results confirmed "flattened T-waves" and the rate would fluctuate significantly. I'm not honestly sure what those could mean, but I guess if the doctors don't seem to be stressing, I'm not going to let that get to me.
I want to speak to my doctor about the impact I'm facing emotionally, but I'm already being made to feel that I have "too many issues". Every time I have an appointment, she always says 'you're a goldmine of medical problems', and I know it is intended as an innocent comment, but it makes me feel extremely apprehensive to bring up my mental health, especially considering so many other things about my health are being investigated.

Go to the best
Praying that you feel better soon,
But other issues (mental health medication, iron deficiency medications, etc) are dealt with by her (my GP).
She is a very friendly woman, but I guess I'm a little frustrated sometimes with how she seems a bit naive.
My recent appointment with my specialist has put me in an even more awkward situation. My kidney function has unfortunately declined further and there is even more blood and proteins present. And still no clues to what is causing it..
my specialist has said at this rate I should consider myself lucky to see my 21st. And that it's not likely that I'll be fertile once I choose to start trying for children. Which doesn't make me feel much better, but it's somewhat good that he is brutally honest. I might have to go through a procedure called Brochial Thermoplasty in order to prolong my life and its quality. (Basically burning away all my smooth muscles in my lungs, it causes significant damage, but it is meant to significantly improve breathing in cases like mine). I guess it's a little bit of a Russian roulette waiting game.
