Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I've been thinking a lot about the past lately, specifically when I was in my teens and twenties. These were very hard times, but I also made some unbelievable memories. I met my first girlfriend, who I fell deeply in love with. I played in a rock band. I worked out and felt physically healthy.
Now, half my life has passed by, and I miss my youth so badly. I hear music that brings me back to those times, and I actually feel emotional pain knowing I'll never be there again.
I have a good life, with a great family, a home, and a steady job, but there's that void of vitality that I felt so long ago. The only way I can describe it is a deep feeling of loss.
I was wondering if anyone else feels this way.

Name something you’ve gotten better at as you’ve gotten older.

I remember the words of advice my dad told me as I was getting ready to go to college. He said "I can tell you what NOT do because I tried it myself. But it is your life to live and your experience to have. You live your life. You are My baby girl no matter. You will always be my baby. Make me proud.
Those words gave me confidence then. They have inspired me most my life. Now that I'm older (60) they have taken on a whole new meaning. Especially because of my dad's medical issues (stroke) and my own medical issues (multiple).
But the thing that has helped me the most is that God hole in my being has been filled since i was 9.
I still get down. Everyone does at times. Its ok Not to be ok. Think! Scripture even has a whole books about 8t called "Laminations".
But I get inspiration from scripture. Like John 10:10
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].
No, I won't preach at you. Just want to share with you.
There's a song I want to share with you now. It's by Mercy Me called "Bring the rain. Beginning words are
I can count a million times
People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that I've gone through
The question just amazes me
Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You
Maybe since my life was changed
Long before these rainy days
It's never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you, oh Lord
My only shelter from the storm
But instead I draw closer through these times
You can find it on YouTube or wherever you play music.
Let's connect if your interested.
Sometimes it's the hole that only God can fill.
"If I have one foot in yesterday and the other foot in tomorrow I'm probably pissing on today.
