Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So I had an interview yesterday for a very well paying job. It went really well. I am hoping it moves forward to the next round. The recruiter felt that we were aligned in terms of my skills and the role that needs to be filled and he is aware that I'm an entry-level job seeker. It would be the first interview that I have had in eight months. Yes, literally in eight months and I've been putting out resumes this whole time. I can't believe it's been that long. They asked me about the compensation that I desired and I was shocked how much higher they are offering. After the interview, I don't know why, I felt a huge drop in energy and I didn't schedule a sub job today. I could have gone and worked out and got groceries and gone back to work today...I don't know what hit me. I was preparing for a few hours on Sunday, then preparing early Monday afternoon, and then had the interview. I also spent two hours yesterday trying to find a neurologist and an ENT doctor that can see me in the near future, instead of several months away. Meantime I have vertigo, tinnitus and migraines that come and go. I was just so tired.
My mood has gone down a little today, i've been obsessing and thinking negative as I haven't heard anything. He said that he wanted to get back to me mid this week and have me interview with the client. And they asked for my reference at the end of the interview which is a good sign. I hope everything goes alright. I know I have a pretty solid recommendation from my professor, I hope that he speaks exactly to the skills they are asking about, because I did a variety of things. I know that this could turn out any way. My anxiety is pretty high today and I felt actually quite sick this morning. I got up in the middle of the night and went to the restroom and I don't know if I fell asleep or what, I felt really sick. There is this short part that I can't remember and for some reason it seems like I woke up on the floor because it was cold and got back up. I honestly don't know what happened and I don't know if I was dreaming, but I was really nauseated.
I also took some time today to line up another session with a different therapist. The one I had the intake with is not invested. She said that she had availability when I met her, and then after the intake...nothing. No available appointments. She said that she would 'get back to me when she can" Just didnt' sound too promising. My next therapist intake is in two weeks, as is the neurologist meeting.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

Good news about the interview, Mars! The best advice I have been given is now that the interview is over, keep going and find new jobs to apply for. Do not bank on getting any one job once the interview is over. So see this as practice in the interview, practice stating your skills and how you can do their job, and keep your thoughts on the next application.
And good news about the new neurologist appointment.
That is pretty worrisome that you wake up to go use the restroom and find yourself waking up later on the bathroom floor. Are you taking any supplements or medication to sleep?
I am sorry this therapist was not invested. I wonder if they get paid a nice fee for doing the assessment, intake and then don't want to take people. Just get paid to do the assessment.
One thing I have read and learned is many of the online therapy services use a lot of therapy interns, someone working to accrue hours so they can take the licensing exam and then get licensed and be a full on therapist. These students may already have their master's degree but need something like 3000 hours "supervised" by a higher level therapist with the licensing to supervise students.
This is how it works in social work (my former career and education). They get their MSW, then get licensed per their state which in my state is LMSW, then can find a supervisor (the student pays for the weekly or monthly supervision) and start working with clients. Makes me wonder if these online people are really students working to accrue the hours needed to then take their LCSW exam and get licensed to fully be a therapist on their own.
Other degrees may do this slightly differently as far as licensing full on therapists. You can certainly ask someone what their degree is and it will tell you what level they are at. Also students, at least in social work, have to tell the client that they are students being supervised by X. Social work tends to have vigorous ethics as a profession which doesn't mean the individual clinical therapist is any good these days.
