Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm new to this site and want to introduce myself my name is Kim. I feel like noone would care if I live or die. I contemplated suicide for an hour tonight but realized I have no will and wasn't quite sure how to do it. Don't give me any ideas on what to do or I may take them up. Just looking for people out there who experience depression. I've had it for 20 years and only have brief periods of happiness. I would like to get to know other people who have this illness.

I got an email from Kohl's that I had a 40% off coupon for today and tomorrow only. It took me about an hour but I placed an order and got some great deals. I have been wanting a new dress. I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

It's Jill. I private messaged you this morning, before I even saw this post. I CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had depression too on and off.... Life is hard. No doubt about that. We put so much pressure on ourselves that we are supposed to be happy all the time and have our shit together and not struggle. Buddhism would be a great think for you to research a bit. Some books by Pema Chodran and the great Thich Nhat Hanh. I gave you my cell in the private message Kim. I'm sorry you are hurting. You hang tough. Much love, Jill
Welcome to the group. I'm so sorry you are feeling so bad and this is a great group of people and we all care about you. Please keep posting and reaching out, okay? May I ask if you are under a doctor's care and if you're taking any medication for your depression?
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

In rough times I've used short terms things to get by. I need to live until the next Harry Potter book comes out, or the next movie, or while my dad is alive and needs me.
But sooner or later all of those things run out.
I work hard to find things that motivate me, mostly this means finding out what takes my energy and happiness away from me, and then find a way to get over it, or remove that thing from my life.
I have had passions in my life, but other people outside of my experience took all the joy out of them. I walked away from one of them "forever", and another one I walked away from until the people spoiling it for me left and then I returned and had a lot of fun with it.
In a way I'm in between passions again, and I have to plow through my daily life.
Sorry to go off on a tangent here.
I am pleased to meet you, sad for the reasons that brought you here, but pleased to meet you none the less!
Gentle hugs,
Pepper
So I'm left saying: you say nobody would care if you live or die.
Well: would you care?
I mean - it's the only life you get.
If you aren't enjoying it, you need to find out why and change the bits that add together to make the life you don't want. think big. Run away to south america and follow a spiritualist guru. Disappear off to Tibet and herd yaks.
You can do ANYTHING when the alternative is death. ANYTHING. You're in a position of having nothing left to lose.
