Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I feel like everything is falling apart around me and its becomming increasingly hard to deal with. I moved back in with my dad about 4 months ago. When i had moved in i had a relationship, was doing pretty well in college, and was on antidepressants. I was feeling generally pretty good about life. Since then things have kinda turned to a point that is very hard for me to deal with. My girlfirend is polyamorous which already causes a bit of uncomfortable situations, but she is also long distance, meaning i don't get a whole lot of time with her. She also has kids, which i know makes it even harded to have time with her, but regarless i try to not less any of this information affect me. In the last week i ran out of meds and due to there being issues with moving to another state i cant just get them refilled so i would have to go see somebody to get a new prescription. My dad has had medical problems for years, but recently it has been discovered that he has a %50 blockage in his abdoman and the same in both his legs. He complains every day repeadedly about the pain, while on top of that talks alot about how he will probably die soon. He is supposed to be getting a bypass in his abdoman soon but thats only if his tests come back that his heart can take it. If he can get ok'd for it, that will mean he will be out of work for about 3 months. This means that in that period i will have to pay extensive bills alongside my brother, whom I have no faith in to actually do what hes supposed to. If something were to go wrong and my dad were no longer here, I could never trust my brother to pay for the house, and I would never be able to afford it myself. On top of that, I had to take a leave of absence from school because i need to save up money for a couple of classes, while also at the same time be able to save to make up for taking care of bills and food for a couple months at best. All of this has been extremely stressful on top of the fact that i only have my girlfriend to talk to and given everything about her situation if i try to spend alot of time with her she gets upset with me. Its all just alot at once and I really just don't know what to do. I have had some bad thoughts in the past few weeks. Nothing that i have any thoughts about acting on. Everything is just so overwhelming.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

You need to evaluate your current situation, evaluate your stressors and determine what can be done to relieve each source of stress. Just off the top, I would consider your relationship. IMHO being in a long distance relationship with a polyamorous (a lifestyle you don't necessarily agree with) woman with 2 children is a huge stressor. Personally, at age 21, I don't think I would sign up for that type of relationship - you have so many other options. Besides, your current GF doesn't seem to be supportive.
Good luck.
I agree with @HotCzech above, regarding that girlfriend. I know you've posted about her before. Look at her more as a friend to talk to, for now. Also, you have a lot on your plate to be dealing with a long distance relationship (which are stressful enough to handle!). And, since she is dating other people, you feel free to date other people, too, should you meet someone that catches your eye.
I would talk to your Dad. Let him know that you are concerned for him and come out and tell him that you would like your brother to help out more. Also, talk to your brother, too, regarding your Dad's upcoming operation. Let your brother know what kind of help you need him to do. Oftentimes, we have to come out and ask for things that we need other people to do. They can't read our minds.
When we hold things in, they seem bigger. Good for you for writing it out here, I hope you keep coming back here and writing about what is going on. Writing, or talking to someone (friend, therapist, pastor, family member, school counselor, etc) can really help things get better. Talking and writing helps.
Make a list of everything you need to do. I do that, and it helps me to stay organized.
Keep us posted.
