Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...

I would like to think that some day we could resume our friendship, but I doubt it from what they said to me.
I just feel so alone and I don't know how to get close to someone again.
(hugs)
It makes me sad to see you being let down, Blue, as you always offer support to so many of us here.
I guess I just want to reiterate what other people have said ... first, my belief that unconditional support/love isn't really possible here (on earth!) because we're all flawed and hurting in some way.
Secondly, on a site like this, everybody is in emotional pain and often has a lot of issues to deal with (financial, family, health), so depending too much on any one person can be unproductive at best. None of us are mental health professionals, either (although we may know a lot about mental illness), so we often don't know what to say/do that is most beneficial.
If your friend actually said to you that s/he was "tired" of her friends and said you weren't "worth it" after building you up -- well, this person sounds like they have some serious problems.
But it says nothing about you -- don't let this person define who you are. I, for one, think you are totally lovable. :)

Don't make promises you know you may not be able to keep.
I am going to be honest. I do not promise anyone here that I can always be there for them.
I will do the very best that I can with what I'm able to give.
I support when I can but I'm probably not someone you can fully rely on and i have let that be known.
But if someone asks for help I am right there.
However i do not like drama and if someone is constantly dumping on me and creating drama and gossiping about who did what to whom within DS. i am sorry but i will let that person go.
With that being said I do have one friend here who we've both been supportive of one another for the past two years. She's had her bad times. I have had mine. Sometimes we've needed "space". But have always been understanding we are similar in that sense and do not take it personally.
In real life I have been a loyal friend to someone and I realize the loyalty has not been two ways. I have been deeply hurt by "friends". I give but it has not been a balanced and reciprocated.
So i think this is why I do not allow myself to fully rely on people here in DS or in real life and I don't give fully of myself. I will only go so far and hold back. I know how I am and I know how others are.
Maybe I am cynical but I don't set my expectations so high anymore.
I think it's a self protective thing.
I hope you guys respect what I am saying.
It is not an every day occurance, but some people here go into a deep funk and delete all their friends. Sadly there are times where we never know why a friend dropped us.
I am so sorry that this happened to you.
Gentle hugs
This is what I do.
BEFORE!!!... answering a post;
1. Check out the person's details ( if you can) what mood are they in?
2. Can you can relate to this person in any way?
3. READ the post, UNDERSTAND where people are coming from, then READ IT AGAIN, try and get into the persons head. (sometimes this hurts, for me anyway)
4. I then try and decide whether I can offer any advice, or just try and make someone feel better, we just get fed up sometimes and are here for a bit of love and support.
5. Like I said before
IF IN DOUBT...LEAVE IT OUT!
DO NO HARM!
THINK!... BEFORE YOU TYPE!
My Mum (RIP) always used to say
"IF YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING NICE ...DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL"!
(Usually pointed towards me about stirring my sister!)
But that's another story!
I feel a little embarrassed for starting this thread because I was in a bad place mentally at the time, but I am thankful for all of the thoughts here because it helped me put things into perspective and it helped relieve my of my fears.
Thank you to everyone who took out the time to share your wisdom with me.
I hope some day my friend realizes that I understand and realizes how much they are cared for and loved.
I'm fine, and I understand it was just a snap reaction NOW, at the time, it really hurt, because I thought I was just trying to help.
Felt kinda like being kicked in the teeth..ya know?
Just made me feel like saying 'FUCK YOUS ALL'!
They must have thought I was a bloody 'DS promoter' or advertising company or Something?????? Only they know.
