Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I do know that my ANXIETY has triggers...other than me, myself and I... ...the biggest one of which is PEOPLE... I don't like people...and I don't think people like me, but I don't really care about that...but people, especially stupid people...and just regular people...really trigger my anxiety...to the point that I have severe Panic attacks when I am around a lot of people or in public areas...just hearing people laugh, or talk loudly, or anything of that sort triggers my anxiety and can lead to a panic attack if I don't get myself out of the situation quick enough...
also, people I love and care about, like my husband or son, they can easily and unknowingly trigger my anxiety...simply by asking me a simple question...that's really weird even to me...but it comes down to me having to be in control all of the time...and right now, I really am not in control...as a matter of fact... I am spinning out of control!...have been for a long time now...and it's only getting worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to marinate on that thought for a minute...
Marinating...N...NO...NOW!.....
Rejection is a biggie.
Two-faced, conniving, lying never-admitting-they-did-anything-wrong people trigger me.
Being accused of something I didn't do---that's pretty bad.
Being massively under-appreciated is another.
Family holidays are difficult for long & complex reasons.
I work on this stuff constantly, so that someday, it won't have as much power over me. But sometimes, there is nothing one can do to control external forces very much---and it happened to me again in a big way in my new doctor's office, yesterday. He unfortunately took a nasty tone with me almost from the start, one of lecturing and interrupting me when I was endeavouring to be succinct and clear---it was exasperating and very discouraging. Yup. It was awful. (So much for my progress on finding a humane MD.) Was pretty dejected and even angry for the remainder of the afternoon. Was just plain exhausted by dinnertime.
Crawled off to bed feeling very low.
But, well, every day is a new day, and there are lots more doctors out there---so, my next foray into that uncaring world, I'll try and be a lot better prepared.
That's about all we can do. Pick up and carry on.
It's a cause and effect. Depression is an effect so it has a cause ( trigger ) for it.
My depression trigger is isolation. I am a people person. The more less contact with others, the worse my depression gets. My depression gets worse if I have alot to deal with while already depressed.
