Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and suffer from depression and anxiety, both of which I am being treated for through a local Mental Health facility. But for some reason today I am having an unusually bad day because I am feeling so angry today. I woke up with these feeling this morning and nothing happened last night that would have triggered me feeling this way today. I just got off of my Facebook page because because I was starting to post things and make comments that I knew would stir up trouble but I just don't care anymore. My biggest issues today have been trying to post simple things about what I am eating and then attached a picture of a can of Pepsi and a bag of chips. Well to say the least I got blasted by my sister-in-law for not supporting my nephew because he works for Coke and I drink Pepsi. I told her in my comment section for all to see that just because I preferred Pepsi over Coke didn't mean that I did not support my nephew's employment with Coca-Cola. I then put a new post up on my timeline that said "This is MY Facebook Page and if you don't like what I say on MY page then unfriend me". I've had a few bouts of anger over the past 2 weeks and it's starting to scare me that I become so angry and or upset so easily now. I am at a point right now that I feel like just telling everyone off, especially those family and friends on Facebook. I am tired to not being able to post a simple clip art picture of a box of Hamburger Helper that we had for dinner last night and got nothing but rude and negative responses back. I've posted on my page that "if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all".
Does anyone know if depression can lead to having anger issues or can this anger that I am experiencing be coming from my anxiety issues or even from the Parkinson's Disease.
I don't like feeling this way at all. It has already caused a strain between my one brother-in-law and me and I don't want it to affect any other family members but I think that maybe I am just getting to a point that I am not going to sit around anymore and continue to be treated the way I have been or talked to the way I have been talked to. I'm done with just taking it all in stride and having my feelings hurt and don't do anything about it. It was making me an easy target.
Any advice out there on what I should do at this time? Do I hope for better days ahead, do I continue to retaliate in my own defense, do I bow down and allow the rude and mean comments continue and just try to ignore them.........I need input please.

I got an email from Kohl's that I had a 40% off coupon for today and tomorrow only. It took me about an hour but I placed an order and got some great deals. I have been wanting a new dress. I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Everyday I feel more and more sick. Being in pain every day, I've learned to disguise it. So well that others don't believe my pain when I speak of it. Needing help but only receiving negative responses, I find my way but pay for it later. I absolutely need the rest but there's pressing things to be done.

I'm sure the disease of Parkinsons isn't helping with your mood, but you gotta develop a thick skin about what someone says on your Facebook page. Facebook is a public forum. It's EVERYBODY'S page. And not everybody is going to agree on everything. They don't have to un-friend you. They can just block a particular post if they don't want to see it. And you could always un-friend THEM, or block THEM so you don't have to read their comments! Facebook is cool that way.
R U ANGRY ABOUT YOUR SITUATION?
IN OTHER WORDS, YES, DEPRESSION CAN CAUSE ANGER (I THINK)..............................

It is a fact that depression worsens and deepens, often leads to despair, if the depressed person views him or herself as "trapped", with no way to escape the triggering circumstances. For example, I became suicidally depressed in high school because of family abuse, but at 16 or 17 I truly was trapped. No way could I leave and be on my own.
Being diagnosed with a chronic disease certainly is depressing. And yes, Parkinson's Disease can cause depression and anger. I hope you are able to find an outlet for your anger and comfort for your depression.
You have every reason to be depressed & angry right now. I don't know too many people who don't feel similarly should something happen to them that affects their health and life.
It's good that you're aware of both feelings. They are normal and try and stay away from confrontations if you can (like on Facebook). If you blurt out something, someone is not going to understand what is really happening with you. Apologize if your anger is misdirected and tell people who are close to you that your anger is not meant for them and they should not take it personally.
It's good to talk out anger/depression issues with a therapist. Take care.
Yes, depression can lead to anger. I have major depression with suicidal ideations. I recently had a "relapse" - had been doing fine and bam!!!!!!! major episode. When I walked inside I slammed the door.
And having Parkinson's can bring on anger episodes.
It's important to work with a therapist, and talk with them. Someone to monitor your meds is also super important. Med changes can take several weeks to take affect.
A couple of suggestions. Say to yourself several times a day positive affirmations. Don't just say it once, say it 100 times. This bolsters self-esteem which helps lift your mood. Thoughts affect feelings which affects mood, and mood can affect feelings. By saying the positive affirmations it interupts the feedback cycle.
another Mantra would be that I am responsible for my actions alone.
Keep a journal, and don't tear it up a couple of days later. Talk with your therapist about these feelings.
