Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I am on the Bipolar board as well and no one there has to work. It drives me crazy. I have Bipolar with severe depression and extreme anxiety, yet I am still forced to work. I've been turned down for Disability twice. I can barely function but if I don't I will be homeless.
So I want to know, does anyone on this board have to work? I feel so ALONE on DS. The Bipolar board has posts like "What are you up to" all the time and it will get 30 some replies and not a one will mention having to WORK. All any of them do is leisure activities, household chores and doctor appts. It's absolutely maddening.
I know I shouldn't read those kinds of posts because it ends up hurting me so much, but I keep hoping against hope that SOMEONE will say they had to WORK. But they never do. I feel so alone and really need to talk to others who have to work. If you do would you please consider messaging me? I need support to continue working. Thank you in advance.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

Have you tried it through a lawyer? I could not have done it without one.
I am here and you should not feel alone, at least here at DS.
I have to work. I work in a place that about five years ago was a great place with a great environment and I loved going to work but all good things must come to an end. Now I work in a very dark, toxic and everyone is so stress. I have too many debts and I need my insurance so I can get my meds and I am able to have appointment with my MDs.
If I didn't have a job I would feel worse with my depression and all. If I stay home the only thing I want to do is sleep but if I go out I feel better but to go out it takes money.
So yes I have to go to work for my responsibilities and my sanity.
Hope this helps
