Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
i have been on the spiritual path for many years...my goal to transcend my ego or whatever you want to call it. (enlightenment).... not sure if this makes me feel depressed though, as so much in life seems meaningless.
it's tough to get motivated when you're in it. curious...do you see a therapist? use any meds? are you self-medicating?
ever done any serious trauma work? with a good psychotherapist? again, just curious.
i can say for me, i've gotten through quite a bit of depression...it has become way more manageable...but everyone is different.
would love to know more.
Disassociation is your brains way of protecting you. I disassociated whenever I feel threatened or triggered. I try to use grounding techniques to stay in the present. However there are times where I can’t control it and end up in disassociation that can last for hours. When I snap out of it, I many times don’t know where I am or how I got there, nor what I was doing. It can be very scary.
I take Zoloft. It normally takes about 6 weeks to notice any effect. Your doctor will increase it in intervals to give your body a chance to adjust. It takes time.
I hope you feel better soon. Wishing you serenity and peace. Best wishes.
