Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I had a really good therapist last year year briefly, but when my insurance changed, I lost her. It was nearly impossible to find someone who could meet after work and wanted to meet in person. It took me five months. I finally found someone through a firm that I used to use and they opened up a location right near my house, like 15 minutes away and she had appointments at 5 and 6. It was ok but after a while I started to feel like something was off. I saw her about five months, but I started to feel like the sessions were toxic positivity, and there was this sense that she was just not geting me. I didn't cancel my appointment today, but I didn't make another one either. I got to a point where I am very busy now and it feels like the therapy sessions are just draining me and I was feeling this sense of dread going to them. We are just not on the same page and not resonating and I can feel and sense the judgment from her as well. It is uncomfortable. She's nice but it's not working. I just told her that I was busy, which is a true statement. When I explained to her that I had put in my notice on my job because they left me the option of quit or get fired she got quiet and was clenching her jaw and kind of pursing her lips. She suggested that if I could stay on would I stay on....I'm thinking to myself what don't you get...they don't like me they are trying to get rid of me. It was frustrating. She seems to live in this unreal world.

My best friend ruined my day with her immature, bitchy self. If she doesn't get her way, she has a tizzy fit. I told her weeks ago that I couildn't go to yard sales with her on 9/12 because i have a hair appointment. She wasn't happy. I also told her that I don't have any money to go to yard sales. She tried to talk me into going to more yard sales by saying that if I don't go, there...
I am on my 6th therapist. I liked the 5th one the best, but she retired. This current one is - just okay. I did tell her how I wanted the sessions to go though. That I was looking to vent, mostly, about what's going on in my life. She understood and she just listens and only offers up suggestions IF I ask her.
I hope that you will keep looking for a therapist. A lot of them want to do Zoom, online video now.... would you consider that way? There would be more choices for you. I used to go in person, but now I talk to this therapist by phone only and I like it better that way now. I can be in my pajamas and she would never know! LoL.
Good luck. Keep trying. I look forward to therapy, and I hope you will too. I went through some bad therapists, too. It's not your fault. Just not a good match. There are better ones out there. They all have different styles of therapy and you can find one that is more suited for the type of therapy that would help you the most.
